The teaser trailer for writer/director J.J. Abrams' Super 8, which hit theaters with Iron Man 2 this weekend,

Steven Spielberg is producing the Paramount Pictures film, which starts shooting this fall for a summer 2011 release.

A Project Bluebeam Production.

Looks familier, but methinks they overestimated the mass of a pickemup truck.

Yep, just saw it for the first time today.

Right away, I'm thinking " now how would a pick up be anything more than a tin can to an oncoming locomotive, and how would it cause such a massive derailment ?

Was Hellboy driving it ?

Bones: "Don't 'rawr' her!"
Booth: "What? she'rawred' me first."

A couple of years ago in California a guy tried to kill himself by parking his jeep in front of a passenger trian, at the last minute he jumped away leaving his jeep on the tracks. The jeep got jamed under the train and derailed it killing some passengers. But you're right, they should have used a tractor trailer.

While I'll admit to having become a tad fussy / skeptical over such matters in my oldER years, it really does seem ridiculous to start your movie out with this sort of nonsense and then try to pass off the rest of the movie with any level of credibility.

Maybe if the Tasmanian Devil comes bustin' out of the train car, and cyclones up to the screen and then blurts out, all wild eyed and such .. " Albuquerque ? "

I dunno, it comes off looking rather cartoonish, for my likes.
