Seems to me, that since Firefly, there's been ( or I've merely noticed ) more characters named Zoe

Zoe Washburne - Firefly

Zoe Carter - Eureka

Zoe Graystone - Caprica

Zoe Heriot - Dr. Who ( original )

The last one, being British and a bit before my time, I added because....? Hadn't actually seen those eps yet. I'm wondering if writers who grew up on the original Dr Who are paying a bit of homage to her ? The series ? I dunno. I guess I just like shows which happen to have characters named Zoe in them?

Summer Glau can simply walk into Mordor

Bones: "Don't 'rawr' her!"
Booth: "What? she'rawred' me first."

LWAVES

I've had a similar thing and I have to put it down to just recognizing the name because of the Firefly character (or actor in my case).
My story goes that my fave Firefly actor (if I had to pick) would be Summer.
One of my fave all time actresses is Nicole deBoer and I had the pleasure of meeting her for a second time after she had recently given birth. She told me that her daughters name was Summer.
Then a little while ago I saw The Lovely Bones and I thought that the actress who played Lindsay Salmon did a great job so I looked her up on IMDB. One of the characters she played in another show was called Summer.
I immediately thought of all three Summers and then realised that it doesn't really mean anything.

Well, I see your meaning. We 'notice' that which we are familiar with or attracted. Though there's some difference in on air characters and daughters of or secondary characters.....i get your point.
