I have REALLY high hopes for this show. I binge watched a few eps with my Dad and brother over the weekend. It's got a real Fringe type vibe to it, although at least for now it's not, well... as "fringe".

I think fans of Fringe and anybody who has any interest in the Mandela Effect stories will really like this one. I figured since it airs on Starz that a lot of people might not even know about it so I thought I'd mention it here.

Speaking of the Mandela Effect... did anybody see "The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat" episode of the latest season of X-Files? It might be my favorite episode of the show to date.

America loves a winner!

Seen 5 eps so far & while I like the intrigue & Cold War feel, there's a bigger question that's yet to be addressed.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

My only question is, can they keep this up over the long haul? A lot of shows had promise in the beginning and then fell flat. If the writers can manage that and maintain the current quality of the show, I'm happy to follow them down whatever rabbit holes they want to take us down.

BTW, I loved their choice to use Go instead of Chess. Chess is so cliche nowadays.

Did you know that "Atari" got it's name from a situation in Go?

Quote:

In Japanese, atari is the nominalized form of ataru (verb), meaning "to hit the target" or "to receive something fortuitously". The word 'atari' is used in Japanese when a prediction comes true or when someone wins a lottery. In Chinese: dachi; Korean: dansu. Atari is a term used in Go for a situation where a stone or chain of stones has only one liberty, and may be captured on the next move if not given one or more additional liberties. It can be a verb for the act of placing a chain under atari, as well as an adjective to describe the status of a unit, as being "in (the state of) atari". Calling out atari during a game is sometimes done by beginners much like calling out check in chess, but it is considered rude by many more advanced players.
