I've no idea, I watch a few movies in the cinema per year and don't really waste time with weird trash anymore.

They're saying that this could be Pixar's worst or 2nd worst opening weekend ever.

Bruce is predicting $51 Million for this flick even though other outlets have predicted as low as $34 Million. He doesn't even make any mention of the negative press this movie has gotten, and instead says "Elemental will be looking to continue Pixar’s enviable record at the box office".

Enviable in what universe? They haven't released a movie that made Disney money since Toy Story 4 in summer of 2019.

We'll see, Bruce.

Bruce had the top 5 making the following this weekend:

The Flash: $71,000,000
Elemental $51,100,000
The 2nd Miles Morales Movie: $36,400,000
Transformers whatever: $26,400,000
The Little Mermaid: $14,700,000

That's predicting that Elemental will make 72% of what The Flash made, and 140% more than what Miles Morales 2 makes.

So far with Friday night projections, Elemental only made 48% of what The Flash made, and 145% more than Miles Morales 2.

There's no way this thing is making $51 Million this weekend when it's got $40 Million still to make after Friday night. Because it is a kid's movie and doesn't have the hype behind it that movies like more mature movies or movies with existing fanbases would have on a Friday first night release, I think it will behave differently than Miles Morales, Transformers, and Super Mario Bros did and will have a significantly higher Saturday, more closely resembling the box office that the more well known properties have from their 2nd weekend onward, but I don't see it making more than $20 Million maximum today (if it's very lucky) and Sunday is almost always less money than Saturday is by anywhere from 15 to 30% as a general rule of thumb.

That's the best-case scenario for Disney/Pixar right now, with an absolute max first weekend take of $45 Million. If it instead behaves like Lightyear and Strange World did on their opening weekend and actually makes less money on Saturday than it did on Friday, they're really in trouble and those $34 Million predictions from a week or two ago are going to be right.

Another Box Office Flop for Disney?

Recent reviews of Elemental have praised it; however, it doesn’t seem like that is translating very well into numbers. Disney-Pixar’s Elemental opened at the box office this weekend and posted earnings of $11.8 million on Friday. The family film is expected to gross $28 million to $32 million for the three-day weekend. This makes Elemental the lowest or second-lowest debut ever for Pixar Animation Studios since Toy Story debuted at $29 million nearly three decades prior (the numbers not adjusted for inflation).

Disney and Pixar are experiencing a series of disappointing box office performances with films like Lightyear and Strange World. Its latest release, Elemental, is following suit, setting the stage for another lackluster performance at the box office, according to The Wrap. Opening weekend projections barely reach $40 million, countering a $200 million production budget

‘Elemental’ Is Shaping Up to Be Another Pixar Flop

Since “Elemental” landed on tracking three weeks ago, opening projections haven’t exceeded $40 million, and with preview screenings beginning Thursday afternoon, tracking still remains low at $35 million-$40 million. Not only is that beneath the $50.5 million opening of “Lightyear,” which carried the same reported production budget as “Elemental” at around $200 million, it could also fall below the $39 million openings of “The Good Dinosaur” and “Onward” to become Pixar’s lowest opening weekend after adjusting for inflation.

Pixar's Elemental is off to a rocky start at the box office. Elemental is a love story that follows two opposite elements, fire and water, trying to co-exist in Element City. As Ember Lumen (Leah Lewis) and Wade Ripple (Mamoudou Athie) fall in love and learn to connect with each other, they grapple with societal disapproval, the serious differences between their elemental states, and family expectations. Unfortunately, Elemental has not proven to be successful as many of Pixar's other ventures.

Gee... I wonder why.

If I want to see a vast over-representation of mixed race couples that I never actually see in real life, all I have to do is turn on network television and stick around for the commercials featuring a bunch of shit I don't need and I'm never going to buy...

... and that's free.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!

Holy Christ, woke is dead in America.

The people have spoken with their wallets.

Studio projections for the weekend:

1 The Flash $55,100,000
2 Elemental $29,500,000
3 Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse $27,800,000
4 Transformers: Rise of the Beasts $20,000,000
5 The Little Mermaid $11,600,000

Disney is FUCKED.

And DC gets what it deserves for thinking that they could have Ezra Miller head up a box office hit in two roles by trying to hide his abuse, child rape and other shenanigans from the normies by not having him speak on any shows about the movie.

Guess not, huh?

Remember those $140 Million predictions for The Flash?

Even with Michael Keaton coming back as THE Batman after 30 years, you couldn't even make the downgraded $70 Million prediction, could you?

People are paying attention, and people are done with you.

'The Flash' opened at $55 mill, maybe the writers should stay on strike.

Ouch...

Pixar didn't get much of a bump after the real numbers for the weekend came in.

$29,602,429

Usually projections for a brand new release are pretty low ball, I assume to save face if they're wrong. They really cut it close with that $29.5 Million projection, didn't they?

$121,114,915 Worldwide Gross after the 2nd weekend, or 30% of what it needs to break even.

I've also just heard that Disney+ has now cost Disney $4 Billion in losses, so these Pixar direct to streaming movies aren't doing the company any favors while having the side-effect of people not even going to the theater to watch them anymore.

Disney is going to learn some VERY THOUGH lessons in 2023.
