Yeah. I guess I wasn't thinking about tablets or phones when I did it because I don't have one. I actually took your formatting from one of your other threads and altered it accordingly until it fit my screen perfectly. If there is one single more character on any line it will wrap.

This will be a "problem" once we get to week 10, but it's easy enough to just shave another letter off of the days of the week. Instead of just using the abbreviations I had just shortened them down enough to make everything fit.

You're saying the green and red don't show up well on a handheld device though?

Do Right, Be Right. :)

You might think so, but I clearly stated that is not the case with your posts. In the one post I specified, the extra characters wrap. In another post, the same number of characters which wrapped in the first example no longer wrap, they just continue off the page or outside the window (I think JO calls it a breakout or jailbreak). I don't know how you did that.

The same numbers that fits nicely on one format do not fit the same on another. I don't know if iFruit displays differently. I had to ask you numerous times how you saw my tables, because I did not have a monitor which produced the same width as yours did. I had to use the number of characters which you said fit. I assumed that more folk than only you had similar display.

Also, with the handhelds, turning from portrait to landscape changes the autosizing. If I see a posted table which is not looking the way I indended, I can turn to portrait, and once that is showing, turn back to landscape, and the autosizing will make the table fit if it is shown onscreen at the time. I have learned to use the display stabilization row to help this function be more predictable, otherwise i can get stuck with a display I cannot read well.

Even on monitor, green does not show up as vibrant as lime or 55ff00. Do you not think so?

I mostly read on the handheld, so the red does not stand out well. But yesterday I noticed red does not suffer on the monitor so much.

In this quoted post from 14 Jan, on my handheld device the 2nd table work-wraps. But on your other posts, starting 17 Jan, I don't get word-wrap, the table just continues off the page for the last 2 columns of data. I don't know how you did this, what was different. Perhaps this post with a change of font size mid-post is treated different than those without font size changed mid-post. Or something. On a handheld, turning it portrait or landscape makes the auto-sizing jump some. To combat this, and to help get the screen-sizing function to give the maximum readable image fitted to screen, I apply one line in the designated font and size to all "X"s, for the length that works best - and I state that this is "display stabilization row". With your TV monitor, this is likely not an issue, nor can you really adjust for it or tune it right.

I see now that the red shows up well here in bold on monitor, but on my handheld it still is not as vibrant as the others.

I take your meaning on the "lime" font. It does look more bold on my monitor, although I never had problems reading the "green" either. But again, I could see how the green would be hard to see on a small handheld device.

When you brought it up, I remembered that I do often change the text size in my browser to make it smaller since I have a larger monitor. At first, I thought this might be the problem, but I brought up this thread in another browser that I never use and that has the standard size unchanged, and although the size looks to be a bit different between the two windows, neither one word wraps to the next line or gets "jailbroken" off the side like when people are quoting stuff with large images or videos.

BTW... Updated the table with the weekend numbers for Episode 9.

Neglecting to make a massive cut in theaters showing it this week might actually have been the right move... especially in light of Birds of Prey tanking as hard as it did.

Episode 9 just barely managed to eek out a Million bucks on Saturday night, and I'm going to come right out and say the only reason that it did was because it was playing at 336 more theaters than Joker was on the same night.

So, because of this decision, it narrowly avoids being the first of the two to have an entire 3-day sub $1 Million per night weekend, and this will be a milestone they actually share together. And even though it still got trounced by Joker's numbers, it did actually gain a bit of ground all three nights comparatively speaking from the previous weekend.

Because of the fact that Birds of Prey is R rated on top of the fact that it is just awful, Episode 9 might just manage to stay above $100 per theater per night during the week as well since there were no new movies for the week that anybody was excited about.

It will be interesting to see if they cut the number of theaters mid week like they did for Joker or if they just let it ride.

EDITED TO ADD:

I changed the color for the amount of theaters showing on Wednesday and Thursday night to Orange to make that pop out a bit more since it's so out of the ordinary. For some reason, I couldn't just "bold" them like I usually do in posts. I'm not sure if there's some conflict with the font code or what.

BTW... If you want to see how I formatted the table and sized it, JSF, all you have to do is quote my post and you can see any of the code that doesn't get displayed in the final post. That's how I got the code off of your tables.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

8th Monday is first sub $200,000 day.

$198,221

Joker didn't see a sub $200,000 day until Monday of the 9th week.

Only $114 per theater as well... 38% of Saturday night. If it falls to 33% of Saturday night and they haven't axed theaters like they did mid week for week eight on Joker, they'll fall to double digits on Thursday.

Should be a pretty quick and steady fall from here on out. Birds of Prey wasn't much competition, especially with that R rating, but Sonic comes out this weekend.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Well, this is goofy. I had thought I could see the 4,40 in the first line of the table before the digits disappeared. But now I only get to $89,615,28 before they vanish. No wrapping.
As you know, this also means that all of the text that you post in that same post also vanishes out of the window.

Yes, I had already looked at the command syntax you had used for the tables, and I had not seen any difference. Which is why I mentioned that they appear different to me, and I didn't know why.

That is interesting about the bold. I had thought I had played with that in The Thread Of Font Colors, but maybe I forgot.
Maybe Font Face doesn't allow bold.
Or maybe just not Courier New.

Yeah... It's strange man. The table looks fine on my display, in both of my browsers. I just assumed that everybody else could see it just fine too. Don't know what I could do about it since if I fixed it for one display I'll just break it for another.

Shame. :(

I even forgot that I can't even see what I post myself.

Anyhow, the solution that I resorted to was making it narrow enough for anybody to see, and then it is merely narrower for others - there is no real point to make it maximum width, if it's not standardized. Often, when it is narrower, the auto-sizing function lets it be larger to fill the screen.

I'll probably just update the next graph to have 3 letter week days. It will save three spaces, but once we get into week 10 it will only save 2. Is 2 enough from what you're seeing, or how many would it need. I'm sure there is something else I can shorten.

It looks like they didn't cut theaters on Wednesday. I didn't really think they would. It's a really weak box office right now. Might as well just ride out the week.

I'm guessing that Episode 9 is going to be spared a double digit per theater number tonight. Had Birds of Prey been anything that anybody wanted to see that wouldn't have been the case, but last night it did $109 per theater. The Wednesday-to-Thursday night drops have been pretty stabilized for the last three weeks, so it will probably end up with $104 or $105 per theater tonight.

Joker cut an additional 52 theaters in the 9th week to drop to 1,146. It will be interesting to see if Disney brings it down to around that number or chooses to keep it higher than Joker in light of the weak box office. If it weren't to cut any next week, which is still unlikely, it would be showing at exactly 600 more theaters than Joker was.

EDITED TO ADD:

I shortened the days of the week, pre-added the additional space that will be required in week 10, and I shortened TROSw to simply EP9. It will be 4 less characters per line now. How does this look for you JSF?

You could easily round off the Gross to the nearest thousand - the $/T is the figure you are really comparing, anyhow. That would save 8 spots.

Maybe if absolutely necessary. Up until now that's not a bad idea, but as the weeks drag on those thousands/hundreds numbers are going to get more interesting.

Joker, BTW, is still in theaters as we speak. It's just rounding out it's 19th consecutive week in the box office tonight.

In mid January it was only being shown in 85 theaters, but Oscar hype brought it back to 854 for a time. It's certainly going to be cut down from the current 504 theaters showing it since it only made about $20 per night during the week per theater. The question is, will they remove it entirely from theaters or does it still have a chance to have a Box Office run as long as Avengers: End Game was?

Just one more week and it will.

I wonder if somebody at Disney secretly has been reading this thread?

They (smartly) slashed the theaters showing Episode 9 by 754 to make Week Nine's total only 992. This is roughly 150 less than Joker was showing in Week Nine.

Bigger than that though, Episode 9 now beat Joker to another record it probably doesn't want. The first of both movies to show in less than 1,000 theaters. It beats Joker by 1 week for that record now.

It was a good move though. While nowhere near the $673 per theater that Joker showed on the same Friday night in 150 more theaters, it did make a respectable $391 per theater, which is nearly $100 more than it showed last Friday night. Chances are, it will not go sub $100 during the week with this amount of theaters showing it and they might well tie with Joker for that record in Week Ten instead.

It will also benefit from a larger Box Office on Monday than usual because of the holiday. It will be interesting to see if this additional revenue will be enough to maybe eek out one more per-day win for Episode 9 or not. If the ratio of Friday-to-Monday holiday weekends in the past for the flick hold true for this weekend, it will probably out show Joker on Monday by around $200k.

Looks like it was #15 on Friday. Good catch. Monitoring which numbers they came in from week to week hasn't been something that I've paid any attention to. It looks like Tuesday the 11th was the first day outside of the top 10 when it fell to #11 in its 8th week.

It seems that Joker actually lost that one and fell to #11 one day earlier, on the 8th Monday. However, it never fell lower than #13 (at least as long as that was tracked... I'm not sure why so many weeks don't even show the number anymore).

Interestingly, Episode 9 fell around 15% from Friday to Sunday night this week. This is very out of the ordinary, because unless something pulled people away from the theaters like the Super Bowl, Sunday night typically is around a 30% increase on Friday night in almost all cases.

It's just the prediction numbers right now, and I have no clue what they base their predictive models on, but since I've been paying attention they're extremely accurate and I don't expect this number to change much.

There's still almost zero chance that it will even get close to sub $100 per theater per night average this week, given the amount of theaters they cut. With Birds of Prey being R rated and wildly unpopular, that's not going to hurt Episode 9. Sonic is doing much better than expected though, and is family friendly fare. Word of mouth about how good the movie is after the luke warm reception from access-media shill critics may explain Episode 9's sudden unexpected southward Sunday night turn.

Yup. I'm getting pretty good at this.

Episode 9's take on Monday the 16th, President's Day: $322,253

Compared to Joker's take on the same non-holiday Monday: $131,115

Can't come much closer than that prediction.

With a relatively weak box office to compete against now besides Sonic, it will be interesting if the Episode 9 numbers start to catch up to Joker's numbers as we go into later territory where even weekend nights don't gross more than $1 Million per night.

What Star Wars 9 could have been. Let’s read through the full script of Colin Trevorrow’s Star Wars: Episode IX.

This script did not get made because of money. It would have cost BIG money, as significant amount as was spent on Star Wars Rogue One to reincarnate long dead Peter Cushing. Who died before Episode 9 could be made? Carrie Fisher is who, two weeks after this script was finished. Rather than have Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, play Princess Leia with the help of some computer special effects to make Billie look exactly like Carrie, the Disney Company threw away a nearly perfect script and fired its perfectly good director. It was cheaper going that direction rather than trying to do what was expensively done with Peter Cushing on Rogue One.

Disney recreated young Princess Leia for Rogue One and could have done it again for Old Princess Leia in order to shoot the perfectly good script written around the Princess. But Disney decided it would cost too much.

Word of mouth about how good the movie is after the luke warm reception from access-media shill critics may explain Episode 9's sudden unexpected southward Sunday night turn.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Hoo boy... Cutting that prediction close.

Firm numbers in for Thursday, February 20th.

Total Gross: $101,762

Per Theater Average: $103

Womp Womp.

Six Digit days for Episode 9 are over after this weekend (and likely Deal Tuesday). Monday will be the first day in 5 digit territory. (Week Ten, Day 67)

Joker's first day in 5 digit territory wasn't that far behind actually (Week Ten, Day 70) (Which was also Joker's first sub $100 day, a feat which didn't happen often until Week 15 because of smart theater cuts compared to these other films I've been monitoring).

I have to wonder if these similar drops is because Joker had a stronger box office to compete against last year, and if we're going to continue to see both movies kind of even off as we dip into smaller numbers.

I still predict that Episode 9 will have a much shorter run than Joker has. At this point, Joker has been in theaters longer than Avengers: End Game was by a week. Two if they manage to eek out one more week for the little movie who could.

As for per theater averages...?

They cut 56% of theaters showing Episode 9 next week, bringing the total down from 992 to 558. This should probably be enough to keep it in triple digits until Thursday and will force a tie with Joker for the same milestone.

While it almost is certain it will dip into double digits this week, it's hard to pinpoint a day because the numbers and averages are so close to the mark here. So to be on the safe side I'm going to say it happens on Thursday for the tie with Joker, but who knows? It could happen as early as Monday.

EDITED TO ADD:

Yup. Joker is STILL in theaters. Cut from 165 to 90. That now marks 22 weeks straight, beating Avengers: End Game's run by two full weeks now.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

The guys who screwed up the final season of Game of Thrones are out at Lucasfilm, good. The bad news is STAR WARS will now likely go the way of Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon. The fandom just wants Jar Jar Abrams to drag episode 9 across the finish line so we can then forget about the last three films and pretend they never happed.

It sounds like Disney created a disaster by waiting 8 months after Princess Leia died to finally decide it would throw away a perfect screenplay that just so happened to need Princess Leia for a few critical scenes, and then Disney rushed to write a crappy script to replace what was foolishly thrown away. What Disney should have done is offer the Princess's survivors $10 million to allow her likeness or else Disney should have recast the role of Princess Leia. Billie Catherine Lourd, Carrie Fisher's daughter and only child, would have been perfect as the recast Princess Leia.

As a bonus, Disney would not need to order Carrie Fisher to lose 35 to 45 pounds before filming begins. Instead, Disney could have put some weight on Billie Lourd by padding her costume and gave her a gray wig to wear. Look at pictures of Billie and Carrie in their Star Wars costumes: www.google.com/search?q=carrie+fisher+daughter
Billie could easily pass as Carrie with a little aging makeup. Using the daughter as the Princess would have given the movie more resonance about the passing of time and the inevitability of death for Jedi at War.

It wasn't just Princess Leia/Carrie Fisher that was responsible for the script change.

Rian Johnson was fired, and they didn't want his woke shit that completely derailed Jar Jar's first movie.

There was zero plan going into this, and the movies reflect that perfectly. If they're saying anything to the contrary now, it's damage control and lies. Everybody involved should be fired.

You are mixing Rian Johnson Star Wars 8 director with Colin Trevorrow Star Wars 9 director. If you read the unproduced Star Wars 9 script, you will see on the first page that Trevorrow wrote "Duel of the Fates". I'd bet that the Colin Trevorrow leaked his own script so you could compare it to the hastily written J.J. Abrams script.

There was a eight month long argument, starting the day Carrie Fisher died, between Trevorrow and Disney about who, and how, to replace Carrie. That story will never be known. We will never get the details, no more than we will ever get the details of why FOX put Firefly in the Friday Night Death Slot. That slot is only for soon to be cancelled shows in their second season.

There was probably a faction at Disney that sided with Trevorrow, but eventually Disney weighted how much money it would cost. The most money won and Trevorrow was fired 8 months after Carrie died.

Then Disney brings in J.J. Abrams to write a sloppy, stupid script without using Princess Leia. Except the Princess was still in that sloppy, stupid script. Abrams used outtakes from Star Wars 8 for the Princess in 9. That was a cheap and foolish decision. Disney should have recast the Princess, kept Trevorrow as director, and made a perfect movie called "Duel of the Fates" instead of that idiotic, half-ass "The Rise of Skywalker". (Bringing back the Emperor, dead for 40 years, was a ridiculous storytelling decision. In the first 5 minutes of "The Rise of Skywalker" the Emperor was about to be killed, again. I was thinking Kylo Ren has just murdered 50 people in order to get to the Emperor and then he lets the Emperor live? That is stupid.)

I stand by what I wrote, Disney just wanted Jar Jar to drag that P.O.S. across the finish line. Disney and Lucasfilm knew ep 9 was an awful flick, that's why they did all those reshoots last summer. Disney and Lucasfilm doesn't care about the Fandom, we know this by the way they treated fans after their negative reaction to ep.8.

Lucasfilm can't tell the difference between a good and bad script. If you give them two Star Wars scripts: "Duel of the Fates" (2019) and "The Rise of Skywalker" (2019) most people at Lucasfilm and Disney could not tell which one should be made. Even George Lucas could not see the difference when it is only words on paper, e.g. "A New Hope" (1977) and "The Phantom Menace" (1999). That's how most bad movies get made. Hollywood thinks the script is great, but Hollywood can't recognize badness on paper . . . Then Hollywood reshoots to salvage what they can from a bad script.

If Hollywood could recognize a bad script, it would throw half the scripts it makes into the trash. It would have made "Duel of the Fates" and trashed "The Rise of Skywalker".

Did you see Lady and the Tramp (2019)? At the script stage, Disney would have realized this was a losing idea, if anybody at Disney could visualize what would happen when the words on paper are filmed. Once it was done, when it didn't require somebody with imagination to see what an atrocity the script was, Disney sent it directly to video.
www.metacritic.com/movie/lady-and-the-tramp-2019

The original Lady and the Tramp (1955) cost $4,000,000 and was re-released in 1980, 1986, 2005. Disney believed that the new movie could be as popular as the old movie. They were so very wrong and mostly because the new script stunk and nobody has a nose at Disney.
www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt0048280/

Disney remade Beauty and the Beast (2017), but they left the story as it was in the original, instead of trying a new script. The result was $1,263,521,126. That's $1.26 Billion with a B. Better than The Rise of Skywalker because the script for Beauty and the Beast 2017 was just as good as the one in 1991 because it was the SAME old shit repackaged.

You're missing the point.

A lot of people didn't bother seeing Rise of Skywalker because of how bad The Last Jedi was, and how bad and woke Solo was.

This was even more true in places like China than it was here in the states where it had a huge impact.

One thing that is abundantly clear is putting a "progressive" agenda in movies is a surefire way to lose money.

Their jobs might be a little bit easier when gambling with other people's money if they finally start learning that lesson.

The real point is that Star Wars is a fairy tale, something that Hans Christian Andersen would write, and an adventure story, something that Edgar Rice Burroughs would write, and most Hollywood writers can not write either and won't admit they can't. There are even fewer writers who can melt the two kinds, fairy tale and adventure story, into one story. Jon Favreau can. You can see his work on The Mandalorian. Or you can see Star Wars movies written by people who should not be writing Star Wars.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

No. That's not the real point.

The REAL point is that the original trilogy is timeless.

When you put agendas in movies, they're outdated even faster than your smartphone is.

When they're progressive agendas that nobody outside of Hollywood is on board with, they are flops before they even get released.

It took a while for Hollywood to burn all of the goodwill that the Star Wars name used to have, but they finally did it.

Had these shit movies been part of another property or a new property entirely, they never would have made a second movie.

Rise of Skywalker wasn't the problem. It was simply a cowardly half-measure that tried to bring back old fans and please the woke idiots at the same time. You can't do both. So it failed with everyone.

What was wrong is that the excellent script for "Duel of the Fates" was not chosen over the piece of crap script "The Rise of Skywalker". Whoever was doing the choosing couldn't tell the difference between a good story and a Star Wars parody.

The first 5 minutes of "The Rise of Skywalker" is a ridiculous start. Kylo Ren murders 50 people to get the device showing him where the Emperor is, flies across the Universe, marches up to the Emperor with his light-saber, then doesn't cut off the Emperor's head. That scene does not work since Kylo Ren stops killing for no damn reason. The whole movie is full of no damn reason for what anybody does. It is a completely forgettable mess, unlike my favorite Star Wars, The Mandalorian, where every scene in the first 3 episodes is memorable and everything makes sense because it is done for a good reason.

I'm not going to argue with you that Rise of Skywalker was a good movie. I'm starting to think that might be what you think I'm doing.

My point is that no script was going to fix the problem. The damage had already been done with three movies prior to whatever Episode 9 was going to be. (Some people seemed to like Rogue One, so I'm not counting that, although it was a story nobody asked anybody to tell that cashed in on nostalgia of a single line spoken decades ago).

They had ZERO plan for what the trilogy was going to be when they started it. There was only 3 rules:

1. George Lucas wasn't going to have any input whatsoever.
2. The entire extended universe was removed from cannon.
3. "The Force is Female."

Your alternate script wasn't going to fix any of those mistakes.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

6ix, Disney isn't deliberately trying to offend you.

The real problem at Disney is that, for Star Wars, Disney can't tell a good script "Duel of the Fates" from a terrible script "The Rise of Skywalker".

Another real problem at Disney is that they take forever to make decisions -- 8 months to decide what to do about a dead actress from a drug overdose. Recasting Princess Leia is the obvious solution, but Disney fired the director instead, which is crazy.

Another real problem at Disney is their hyper-secrecy. They can't make plans because they are afraid that if they wrote anything down for the second and third movie in a trilogy it would leak to the public. The result is they don't write anything and they don't make plans, which is crazy.

Another real problem is that Disney does not know who can write. Disney must think anybody can write a script for any kind of movie, which is crazy. Disney assigned Happy Hogan from Iron Man to write The Mandalorian. That should have been a catastrophe of a decision. Disney got really lucky it wasn't, but Disney is crazy for giving the project to Happy Hogan.

Oh. That's great to know. I wasn't going to watch a new Star Wars movie even if it was the next Citizen Kane, so it doesn't bother me that they "accidentally" offend me then.

"The Force is Female" isn't cute. It's combative. The writers of Episode 7 came out and said that the Empire was the White Patriarchy in America.

How is this this ultra-liberal agenda in Hollywood not offensive?

STFU about these two possibilities. It didn't matter. They already ruined it and turned Star Wars into something that nobody is excited about anymore.

When you double production costs for marketing, and you consider that they only make a maximum profit of 65% of the box office in the states and 45% profit abroad, they have a LONG way to go before they make their money back.

They'd better purge their woke people from the crew going forward if they ever want to make that money back and actually start showing a profit.

You keep complaining about the politics, but what is wrong is that the people making decisions can NOT tell the difference between good scripts and crap. In the finished movie, they can tell, but not at the script-only stage. Really, they can't tell from a script. Once the movie is made, they are forced to pretend it is great. It has nothing to do with woke people.

The classic example, also from LucasFilm, is Indiana Jones 4. There were two scripts. Which one got made? The crappy one.

There are two articles explaining why one script is good and the other is crap, but it is too sad that most people in Hollywood will never understand the excruciatingly simple differences. They are nearly completely deaf, dumb and blind to differences in quality while the movie is only a script and yet these same people cannot shut the fuck up about their artistic vision. They don't realize they have very little vision when they are reading a script. Their artist vision only starts working when it is far too late, when the film is nearly finished:

1) Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods (the excellent script)

50 Strengths of Darabont’s Draft
A lot of love and heart went into Frank Darabont’s rejected Indiana Jones and the City of Gods script. There is NO question that his script would have been THE film Indy fans were waiting for. There is also NO question about its superiority of craftsmanship over Koepp’s or most likely any other draft.
http://mysterymanonfilm.blogspot.com/2008/06/50-strengths-of-darabonts
-draft.html

https://file.wikileaks.org/file/indiana-jones-4.pdf

2) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (the crap script that George Lucas/Steven Spielberg made into a movie)

50 Flaws of Indy IV
http://mysterymanonfilm.blogspot.com/2008/05/50-flaws-of-indy-iv.html

What is happening in Hollywood? Too soon to tell, too late to change. It is always too soon to tell if the script will make a good movie, but once production has started it is too late to change the script that is the map to a bad movie.

My point is, the woke people need to go. Woke NEVER works. Filming a woke script is the equivalent of taking pallets of $100 bills and setting them on fire.

If you want a scenario where the best you can hope for is a coin toss, then you need to take the blatant agenda out of the film, and for christssake you need to put a muzzle on your actors and staff.

Of the recent woke flops out there, Birds of Prey itself supposedly wasn't all that bad compared to the rest of them, but you wouldn't know it hearing Ewan McGregor at interviews.

We'll see if Tim Miller learned the lesson. From a recent interview, I don't think he really has yet. He's getting warmer...

He's probably got a few flops left to make before he burns up all of his goodwill, both with fans and with investors, so the clock is ticking on his career.

Haha! This thread isn't dead until Episode 9 is dead, buddy.

It shouldn't be too long. I only expect a 16 week run, losing to Captain Mary Sue by a week.

Been a little busy recently to compile a new chart, but here it is...

Week 9 saw Episode 9 barely miss dipping into double digits on Thursday with $103 per theater average, showing in 992 theaters all week versus the 1,146 that were showing Joker in the same week.

Week 10 saw Episode 9 beat Joker to the first sub $100 average on Monday with 87, compared to Joker having it's first sub $100 average on Thursday of the same week with $80. However, even though there was a major slash to theaters showing Episode 9 at 558 to Joker's 956, they still had three sub $100 days in Week 10.

Sundays as of late seem to be rather kind to Episode 9 for some reason. I think the obvious reason that Episode 9 blew out Joker on Week 9's Sunday is that Monday was President's day and the kids had the day off.

That doesn't explain the 10th Sunday, however. While Episode 9 brought in
$104k less than Joker did on the same day, it managed to eek out a $10 per theater average more than Joker did on the same day (though, granted, it did show in 398 less theaters than Joker).

Week 10 also is the first sub $100k day for both movies. Again, Monday was the first day for Episode 9, while Thursday was the first for Joker. All four weekdays for Episode 9 were convincingly under $100k with the highest being just $61k on Deal Tuesday, compared to Joker's $76k on Thursday.

Less good news for Episode 9, the Estimates for Friday night show Episode 9 only making $84k on Friday in Week 11, which makes the first sub $100 weekend showing a full week ahead of Joker. At $84, that's barely even hitting the average week day tally of Joker for the same week.

All that being said, Joker does seem to nosedive in Week 12 and doesn't pick up any steam again until early to mid January and the Oscar buzz surrounding it. We'll have to wait and see what happens to Episode 9 in the next few weeks.

1) After 5 minutes of watching The Rise of Skywalker, I knew Disney had badly screwed up by bringing a dead thing, smelly-rotting-disgusting Mister Emperor Palpatine, back to temporary life so that Disney could kill the thing at the end of the movie.

2) Months later, after reading the excellent script Disney started preparations to film, then stopped work, I really knew Disney had screwed up:

The Emperor in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Was a Clone, According to the Novelization

When the news broke that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker would feature the return of Emperor Palpatine, it didn’t take long for Star Wars superfans to come up with a plausible backstory to explain how he got there. Here’s the basic timeline: A few years after Palpatine fell down a shaft on the second Death Star during the Battle of Endor at the end of Return of the Jedi, a growing ethnofascist movement on Earth figured out how to harness fan culture and the rise of social media to recruit and train a new generation of Nazi stooges. After honing their powers during Gamergate, this ragtag band of white supremacist morons turned their attention on the Star Wars franchise, and were such relentless shitheads about the whole thing that they convinced senior management at the Walt Disney Company that Star Wars fans were liddle widdle babies who just wanted to be told the exact same stories about the exact same space wizards over and over and over again, which made Emperor Palpatine’s resurrection at the hands of Sith cultists on the planet Exegol more or less inevitable.

The definitive explanation for Sheev Palpatine’s long journey from “middle-aged senator from the Planet Naboo” to “physical embodiment of a corporation that has run out of ideas” is found in Rae Carson’s upcoming novel The Rise of Skywalker: Expanded Edition (Star Wars).

lol

It didn't have anything to do with the constant missteps before Episode 9.

No. It couldn't be that.

Get woke, go broke.

Saturday night's estimate was $164k, while Sunday's matches the $84k for Friday.

That will likely be the last six figure day for this woke turd.

Also, Week 10 marks the first sub Million week for Episode 9.

Though the chances are very slim, it might be possible that Episode 9 doesn't even pull in as much as Joker did in total at the box office if it's pulled from the theaters early enough. Wouldn't that be nuts?

Right now, it's pulled in $1,069,618,821.

Joker's total haul was $1,073,624,800.

The international totals show Joker blowing out Episode 9 by over $180 Million. If it wasn't for the negative Liberal press in America, it probably would have at least done as well in the US and killed Episode 9.

All that being said, Episode 9's (alleged) production budget was $220 Million more than Jokers was, and no doubt the marketing budget was insane compared to Joker's.

Without taking the unknown marketing budgets into account, as of March 1st, Joker has still made 224 Million more than Episode 9 did when you count the production budgets.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Actually.....

Now that I run the numbers, there's actually a pretty damn good chance that Joker ends up beating Episode 9 at the box office without even taking the production budgets into account.

If Episode 9 follows the trajectory that Joker did after it's first sub Million week, it can't possibly make the 4 Million it needs to beat Joker.

In Week Eleven, Joker made $743,094. In Week Ten, Episode 9 made $762,516.

But from Week Twelve through Week Twenty One (the most up to date figures for Joker), it only pulled in an additional $2,103,000. That also includes a big resurgence in Week Sixteen that was over $550,000 compared to the previous weeks $100,000 due to the Oscar hype, and three weeks after that which saw it higher than Week Sixteen as well. Episode 9 will NOT see this happen.

The best it can hope for is a much slower fall after its first sub million weekend and at least 20 weeks before it is removed from all theaters.

Not. Very. Likely.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Mark the date. Because if I'm right about Joker's Box Office beating Episode 9's, I'm dropping that bomb weeks before the YouTube nerds even had it in their head.

Disney owns 20th Century Fox Animation. Fox made "Spies in Disguise" for $100 million, but worldwide box office is only 1.7 times production budget. It is a stinker.
www.the-numbers.com/movie/Spies-in-Disguise-(2019)#tab=summary

Disney does not know what will be a good movie when all it has is a script to decide to go ahead and make the movie. Disney should switch to Pixar's method - make the movie then remake if it stinks. Once the smell has been completely dissipated then it is time to release a Pixar movie. Disney doesn't do that. If a Disney movie stinks while it is a script, it will stink when it is released. Disney must believe it can spray Febreze fabric refresher with Lavender and Disney Scent to kill the odor.

There's is no way this mess can be fixed, it's totaled. It's like Disney Corp dropped a wreaking ball on it. It's likely why Spielberg walked away from Indiana Jones, he didn't want his name connected to that future steaming bucket of puss.

Will you never stop bitching about female Jedi Knights? Disney had a perfectly good script, Duel_of_the_Fates. They didn't make that version of Star Wars 9 because Carrie Fisher died, but has Disney not heard of recasting a role when an actor is unavailable? Does Disney not know about how to make the replacement actor look like the character? Did Disney really need to wait 8 months to decide what to do about it? The Disney decision-makers are idiots and it is not because they added women warriors to Star Wars. They are idiots because Duel_of_the_Fates was a good script and The Rise of Skywalker was a crap script, but Disney picked the crap script to make -- which makes Disney look like idiots.

And her kiss with Kylo was mere gratitude, not romantical.

FFS, SW is now a dumpster fire.

But Dr Who died worse, imo.
