There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Predestination? Filmed April/May 2013 and not released until Jan 2015.
What drew you to this? Why did you want to see it a second time? Was it the Heinlein connection? You had already read the story? Some sort of Hawke fan?
Although I do enjoy the work of Emma Stone, I was not thrilled to see the same character look like her and also Leonardo Dicaprio. I thought the crude repetition of the obvious, half hour later in the film, a bit tedious.
Perhaps the director thought himself too clever or the audience too dense?

I do have one question about it, perhaps I missed the answer due to boredom. Who did the bomb that killed over 10K? was it already set, or was it by a copycat? What?

I am a fan of Ethan Hawke, and also a huge Heinlein fan. I've probably read the story three or four times, including just before seeing Predestination. For those not aware, the title of the short story (which is used in dialog in the movie) is "—All You Zombies—". The best thing about the movie was the performance of Sarah Snook, and I don't think she looked like either Emma or Leonardo at any time. It's not a good idea to constantly compare people in either appearance or acting ability, just take each as their own unique self.

I wouldn't say it's a great film, or even a very good one, but it was competent, but probably should have been at most an episode in an hour long anthology series instead of feature length. As for your last question, I do have a theory about it, but I still haven't seen it a second time so I'll not comment at this time.

It's been a year. Share your theory now, and amend it later.

Ex-Machina was an early front-runner, but along came The Revenant, then Spotlight.
Oh, oh.............for me it's a toss-up between the Revenant and Spotlight. I give the slight edge to The Revenant, because it was a beautiful piece of film and a good story.

I have to say this; Special Mention should go to Mark Ruffalo, he was excellent in
Spotlight.

I was happy to see both Alicia Vikander and Brie Larson win.

How many would agree that Ex-Machina was the best film of the year for 2015?
I was happy to see Alicia win an Oscar, albeit not for this role.
Also, regarding discussion of this film, did anybody consider that Caleb's memories of events prior to his arrival at the facility could have been implanted? Also, I just remembered that his unfruitful attempts to cut or blemish his finger with a razor blade could have been a dream or delusion. Now that I have typed that, I notice his reality test was with a razor BLADE, and the turing test was also used in BLADErunner.

Also, I still include Woman in Gold.
I don't think I have seen Predestination yet.

Any other films that you all feel were, or competed for the Best?
