Well, it is the end of March and I see no thread about this yet.

I saw last night an ad for the film Nobody, and I looked at my local cinema and saw a bunch of films showing which I had not seen before, nor seen available before. Including Nobody.

So that looks like what I'll be seeing next - looks like it night be a sort of John Wick type story.

I do also hope to see Free Guy, and perhaps Quiet Place 2 and Top Gun Maverick.

Others mentioned in this thread:

Ghostbusters 3
The Many Saints of Newark
Suicide Squad 2.0 (Nathan)
For some, Godzilla Vs. Kong
Wrath of Man
No Time To Die (James Bond) - October
Nobody
Old
Forever Purge
Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard
Remenisce
Lisey's Story
Last Night in Soho - November
Jungle Cruise

Comeback Trail
Escape Room

In calendar order:

Nobody - 26 March
For some, Godzilla Vs. Kong - 31 March
Wrath of Man - 7 May
Quiet Place II - 28 May
Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard - 16 June
Forever Purge - 2 July
Escape Room 2 - 16 July
Old - 23 July
Comeback Trail - 23 July
Jungle Cruise - 30 July
Green Knight - 30 July
Suicide Squad 2.0 (Nathan) - 6 August
Free Guy - 13 August
Don't Breathe 2 - 13 August
Reminiscence - 20 August
The Protege - 20 August
Cry Macho - 17 September
The Many Saints of Newark - 24 September
No Time To Die (James Bond) - 8 October
Last Night in Soho - 22 October

Ghostbusters 3 - 11 November
Top Gun Maverick - 19 November
The Matrix 4: Ressurrections - 22 December

I'm not really following much in with movies, catching up more on old books.

Not sure how much I will see, maybe nothing wanted to hope to see the usual scifi or documentary or thriller thing.

Dune I expected it would be ok, a scifi book movie franchise remake looked ok, Into Thin Air a documentary think the guys are Aus or NZ about the missing Malaysia Aircraft...maybe something French or German like Wood and Water, something crazy Japan or S.Korea like Space Sweepers ... I might have bought a ticket to some B-movie crap like 'Army of the Dead' yeah i know its stupid its horror scifi and zombies and its probably dumb Zack Snyder crap but I would maybe have watched it in the cinema. There was Exodus and Voyagers Maybe I would have watched some Marvel DC superhero thing like Venom, Black Adam, Black Widow, The Batman remake or Morbius.
'Nomadland' looked good a woman who lost it all with a recession, a laid-off older woman almost homeless?

Most upcoming films I took notice of got delayed

The expensive stuff is all going to flop, major box office bombs and turkeys coming in 2021 maybe 2022, Hollywood will have lost big money. Cats lost 70 million and that was 2019, the New Terminator and Robinhood back then lost probably 100 Million each, the new Wonder Woman Lost 100 Million in 2019 while the other Wonder Woman made $800 million
a lot more film will be delayed multiple times with Corona and eventually cancelled due to the COVID pandemic

TopGun is one I would have watched, maybe GhostBusters also

Not sure if Cinema will be open

A big Tv and Netflix, iTunes, Apple, HBO or Hulu it might be

Have you seen anything for "The Suicide Squad"?

It looks like they're doing a full 180 and going full Shazam with it now.

If nothing else, it should be another hilarious entry for an outfit that should just finally give up the idea that they're ever going to make a successful movie franchise like Marvel did. It's never going to happen. They even pissed away all the good will of Wonder Woman with whatever that sequel was.

A couple of trailers are out now, btw, so ... that's all I know.

Wow? The Suicide Squad got an R rating? I think they REALLY had to fight for that, at least from what I've seen of the movie so far.

I actually liked Shazam, so that's not necessarily an insult. Though I don't care much for Gunn himself and his opinions, I also think that Guardians of the Galaxy was well above average for comic book movies as well. It's actually got a real shot of being decent.

My commentary on the movie was really just a knock on the leadership at DC that can't seem to get their shit together, whether it's far too much studio interference on projects, hiring woke activists and giving them far too much control, or letting Zach Snyder turn DC into a dark, dreary and depressing hellscape. Tim Burton was able to pull this off very well with the first two Batman movies, but IMO Snyder is an extremely overrated director and should probably quit while he's ahead.

My disclaimer here should be that with the exceptions of Deadpool and the first Guardians, I hate movies from the modern era of the Marvel Cinematic universe. With rare exception they're so formulaic and cynical that you're basically just watching the same color by numbers idea play out over and over again with new wallpaper. Very, very expensive wallpaper.

I miss the days when big studio movies weren't expected to have over 100 million dollar budgets and they took a lot more chances that they can't take when they feel like it was a failure if they didn't bank a billion bucks at the box office.

When you see it Rap, let me know what you thought. I wouldn't have seen Joker without your recommendation, and you seem to really like the few Marvel movies that I enjoyed.

I’ve only heard good things about Shazam. I’ll get to it, I’m sure.

Mainly it’s that damn 70’s morning show that I need to scrub from my memory banks.

I had to think a minute what you meant by the 70's morning show... I don't think I've ever seen a rerun of that, and it was a bit before my time.

It's possible I liked it more than I should have since it was the first movie I'd seen in a theater since Snakes on a Plane.

Shazam is definitely a kid's movie, so don't expect anything too groundbreaking. It's no Joker, but it was fun and I know I would have loved it when I was a kid.

Zachery Levi was a great casting for the role.

I saw a poster today for Suicide Squad, and Nathan had billing - didn't know he was in it.

But, at this point, Free Guy is pushed back to 13 August. Of 2021.

I still plan to see Those Who Wish Me Dead this week. Maybe I will prep by watching Wind River again. I practically have a list of scenes I'm jazzed about seeing again.

So far this year, my local cinemas had been showing on Fri-Sun, plus Tuesday (their $5 movie night).
But I did notice that Quiet Place II opened on Thursday, and now realized they are likely open Monday Memorial Day. So they might be open Wed - which would be the first full week of Box Office in over a year. But still at something like 25% capacity, because we have a Libtard Gov who is beholden to the Teachers Unions, which have supplied him his entire career, so he refuses to follow the science.

Now that I;m seeing trailers, I should add:
Old. Seems like a vibe of The Ruins, but with M. Night I should expect more.

Forever Purge. Have seen some other Purge films in the franchise, but this seems more gritty. I think out 4 July.

Maybe The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard. Seems a comedy, action. With Ryan Reynolds.

I see that Jaynez mentioned Dune on March 31st.

I wasn't even aware that they were doing a remake until I watched a JoeBlo WTF Happened To This Movie about the 1984 flick that I remember trying to watch once or twice as a kid but never got into.

It sounds like the studio heads really screwed Lynch over on that flick. He wanted the movie to be broken into parts back then, but they wouldn't allow it. Even though Star Wars had done that successfully, it just really wasn't a thing that was done back in the 80s.

The new one is being broke into 2 parts. It could be good... But since it looks like they're not going to bother even beginning filming on the 2nd part until after they figure out if anybody is going to pay to see the 1st part, we could be left with another Alita situation.

The Tomorrow War was a huge letdown after a promising beginning.

I went into it cold... My old man wanted to see it when he visited.

Not the worst action flick I've ever seen and the special effects were good. But it ranks pretty high on the dumbest time travel movies I've ever seen.

My old man called one of the major plot points an hour before it happened... And when it looked like he was wrong I didn't say anything because I thought that might be intentional and yup... it was. He was right, and I was right about him being right when it looked like he was wrong. *yawn*

He usually doesn't talk through a movie either, but he kept saying how stupid they were all being and wasting the whole time travel element of the plot. He wasn't wrong. A lot of stuff that happened only happened because the movie needed it to happen.

The movie's biggest sin, IMO, was wasting The Hunt's badass Betty Gilpin in the do-nothing mother role in a movie where there is ass kicking to do. I guess they already had Chuck's Yvonne Strahovski to fill that role. At least it was nice seeing her again.

It doesn't appear to have been on anybody's must-see list for 2021 here. It should probably stay that way. It probably could have been a short-term substitute for the Edge of Tomorrow sequel if it was done right. But it wasn't.

At least there wasn't any woke bullshit in it.

Other than that, typical Hollywood blockbuster schlock full of stuff you've seen done better before, with a 2+ hour runtime it doesn't earn.

4/10.

ETA: If you want to see a similar action flick that was done a hell of a lot better and was far more entertaining, I'd recommend Evolution from 2001.

It's woke bullshit for sure, but it's actually not as bad as we had heard it would be before the beer bug put it on the shelf.

Either it never was as bad as we heard, or they did some re-shoots to make it more palatable to people who would actually pay to see it.

I think they're finally starting to figure out that appealing to the Leftist wackjobs on Twitter doesn't translate into making money.

Good luck if you go see it. I'd love to hear that they didn't destroy Bond like they did Star Wars and Star Trek and anything else they get their hands on.

I might get around to watching some films maybe Godzilla vs King Kong, or Shang Chi or Boss Level or the new 'Bond' or Ghost Busters or Last Night in Soho or Space Sweepers or A Quiet Place sequel or the Korean Night in Paradise or Black Widow or Mortal Kombat or 'Demon Slayer' animation but I think a lot of movies were crap this year

However I did enjoy the Zombie Money Heist movie, many might know actor Dave Bautista who stars in Zack Snyder's 'Army of the Dead'

yeah its kind of dumb but you just turn off your brain and enjoy and it has a 'Zombie Tiger' so how freaky is that?

I guess Top Gun Maverick is delayed yet again. Nothing wrong with the film completion, just more covid fear.
Delayed until May 2022 this time.
Originally scheduled for summer 2022 release.
