There was a coda, scene after all of the credits ended.

I still have yet to see this...

My buddy and I watched the first three movies in the last month or so. We were going to watch it the other night but opted for something else because he had work in the morning and it's got a 2 hour and 50 minute runtime.

That being said, I absolutely LOVED the first movie, and the 2nd movie was almost as good despite the cliffhanger ending (thankfully they did make the 3rd movie and didn't screw the fans).

I didn't really like the 3rd movie much though. It wasn't bad... It just didn't seem very "John Wick" to me. It also didn't benefit from the ever-lengthening runtime either. My buddy was actually falling asleep during the action in the 3rd act, and although I had no problem staying awake, that was around the point that my mind started wandering too. John Wick 3 could have benefited from leaving about 20 to 25 minutes on the cutting room floor.

I loved the first half or so of the movie though. Halle Berry's character and her awesome dogs were a welcome addition to the franchise, and I knew that bastard was going to shoot one of them, what she was going to do in retaliation (and I even called word for word what she said to John afterward). Once she leaves the film is when it starts taking a downward turn, IMO. Not because of her absence, but just because of the shift in tone of the flick and the entire series in general. It does make a pretty strong comeback in the last few minutes, but boy that last half of the 3rd movie was a chore to slog through. John's rise up that building to get to the Big Bad was like watching somebody play a video game and just got boring.

Hopefully John Wick 4 makes a strong comeback for the series. I don't think there's any chance it could match the level of the first movie, but I'd settle for at least as good as the 2nd movie.

John Wick Chapter 4 production budget: $100,000,000

The Little Mermaid production budget: $250,000,000

Days in theater before John Wick made the production budget back just in Domestic Box Office: 8

Days in theater before The Little Mermaid made the production budget back in just the Domestic Box Office: Likely 24 (It still hasn't)

John Wick Chapter 4's current Worldwide Box Office vs Production Budget percentage: 432.4%

The Little Mermaid's current Worldwide Box Office vs Production Budget percentage: 172.4%

Bare minimum percentage of production budget a film needs to gross to break even: 200%

After 10 days, John Wick already made 245% of its production budget. https://collider.com/john-wick-4-global-box-office-245-million/

After 22 days, The Little Mermaid isn't even close to 200% and many question if it will even make that much before it's out of theaters.

This is why Democrats can't math. They hate facts and only know how to skew them.

John Wick Chapter 4 beats The Little Mermaid in every possible metric that matters except for the most superficial one that you continue to parrot out here because you read it on another dumb fuck Leftist media site that is simping for big corporations like Disney.

The first movie I think of that satisfies your two criteria about low wokeness and low production budget/high ticket sales is The Blair Witch Project. Production Budget: $600,000 (worldwide box office is 413.8 times production budget)
It must be ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES EVER MADE! (It is not.)

That's what we in the business call a Formal Fallacy.

In any event, The Little Mermaid will still be another in a long string of box office failures for Disney, but it will hardly be the last one.

Wrong again. I'll post the updated list of winners and losers for you because you are stupid.

Worldwide Opening Weekend and percentage of Production Budget made on opening weekend including all American made films in the global top 35:

1 The Super Mario Bros. Movie / Budget: $100,000,000 / WWO: $377,000,000 / 377%
2 M3GAN / Budget: $12,000,000 / WWO: $45,000,000 / 375%
3 Evil Dead Rise / Budget: $19,000,000 / WWO: $40,000,000 / 210%
4 Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse / Budget: $100,000,000 / WWO: $209,000,000 / 209%
5 The Pope's Exorcist / Budget: $18,000,000 / WWO: $36,500,000 / 203%
6 Scream VI / Budget: $35,000,000 / WWO: $67,000,000 / 191%

9 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania / Budget: $200,000,000 / WWO: $250,000,000 / 125%
10 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 / Budget: $250,000,000 / WWO: $290,000,000 / 116%

13 Fast X / Budget: $340,000,000 / WWO: $319,000,000 / 94%
14 Transformers: Rise of the Beasts / Budget: $195,000,000 / WWO: $170,000,000 / 87%
15 Cocaine Bear / Budget: $35,000,000 / WWO: $28,000,000 / 80%
16 The Little Mermaid / Budget: $250,000,000 / WWO: $164,000,000 / 66%

22 Magic Mike's Last Dance / Budget: $45,000,000 / WWO: $8,000,000 / 18%

SPECIAL MENTION:
Mummies / Budget: $12,000,000 / WWO: Unknown / ?

A movie that I've never even heard of until just right now called Mummies is currently 31st on the global list at $53,193,065 and needs a mention because only 8.04% (less than $5 Million) of that came from the domestic market, while the other 91.96% came from international box office. It has now made 442% of its production budget back, making it a clear winner based off of its low budget and its extremely high international take vs domestic take, two things which The Little Mermaid has never had in its favor.

The Little Mermaid is hanging out with all the flops. The only ones even remotely close to it that will succeed will do so because they had reasonable budgets.

And the only other list that matters:

Winners and losers from the previous list:

Winners:

1. M3GAN made 1,475% of its production budget of $12 Million. [FINAL]
2. Super Mario Bros Movie made 1,336% of its production budget of $100 Million.
3. Evil Dead Rise made 768% of its production budget of $19 Million. [FINAL]
4. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse made 489% of its production budget of $100 Million.
5. Scream IV made 483% of its production budget of $35 Million. [FINAL]
6. Mummies made 442% of its production budget of $12 Million. [FINAL]
7. John Wick: Chapter 4 made 432% of its production budget of $100 Million. [FINAL]
8. The Pope's Exorcist made 405% of its production budget of $18 Million. [FINAL]
9. Creed III made 365% of its production budget of $75 Million. [FINAL]
10. Jesus Revolution made 353% of its production budget of $15 Million. [FINAL]
11. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 made 328% of its production budget of $250 Million.
12. Knock at the Cabin made 275% of its production budget of $20 Million. [FINAL]
13. Cocaine Bear made 254% of its production budget of $35 Million. [FINAL]
14. Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania 232% of its production budget of $200 Million. [FINAL]

Losers* (The movies who didn't double their production budget to cover marketing budgets and theater takes):

1. Shazam: Fury of the Gods only made 106% of its production budget. [FINAL]
2. 65 only made 124% of its $45,000,000 production budget. [FINAL]
3. Magic Mike's Last Dance only made 124% of its $45,000,000 production budget. [FINAL]
4. AIR only made 129% of its $70,000,000 production budget. [FINAL]
5. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves only made 139% of its $150,000,000 production budget. [FINAL]
6. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts only made 141% of its $195,000,000 production budget.

8. The Little Mermaid only made 186% of its $250,000,000 production budget.
9. Fast X only made 198% of its $340,000,000 production budget.

So...

Your argument is a farce.

Quote:

The Little Mermaid is a clear loser for Disney, and from a money making standpoint which is all that matters in the end, it was a huge disappointment when it was predicted it was going to be another easy 1 Billion in ticket sales.

Nobody behind the production of John Wick is displeased in the slightest with the money it made. Especially not since it kept up the trend of making more money in the box office than the previous installment. This is a valuable indicator for the franchise going forward. As long as they keep telling people a story they want to hear and they don't go crazy with the budget, the 5th chapter should make more money for them than the 4th chapter did. And the fact that it stars a very charismatic lead who is generally liked by almost everybody and keeps his fucking mouth shut about his political beliefs doesn't hurt the franchise either.

John Wick 4 absolutely sucked. 2/10.

I would watch the original again right now. The 2nd one was also enjoyable, but because of how it ended and lead into the 3rd one, which needed the 4th one to complete the 3 movie arc, I wouldn't ever bother watching the 2nd movie again.

Somewhere along the line, John Wick lost his way. I think it was about 1 hour into the 3rd movie.

John Wick 4 was boring action with almost zero story, and by the 2nd half you're just watching a live-action Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner cartoon, with Wick getting smashed by cars repeatedly, jumping from 4 story windows and crushing the cars below, falling down 8 flights of stairs twice, and just all around getting the shit kicked out of him left and right but just getting right back up with hardly a limp like he's Michael Meyers or something.

2 hours and 50 minutes I'll never get back. Plus the sequel and 3rd movie time sink.

What an unbelievable disappointment. Utter trash.

Would not recommend to anyone.

Jeez...

It's not just the critics. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/john_wick_chapter_4

John Wick 4: 94% Critics Score / 93% Audience Score

I'm not trying to be a contrarian here. John Wick 4 sucked, as did most of John Wick 3 (which I mentioned in a post above after seeing it).

Maybe most people didn't have the benefit of watching all 4 of them for the first time within a very short time frame?

John Wick was a very good movie. 8/10. I'd give John Wick 2 a 7/10, even though it left you on an abrupt cliffhanger, only because I feel that they did a good job picking up where 2 left off to start 3 out... and I'd probably give the 3rd movie a 6/10 up until the point where Halle Berry exited the movie. Everything I watched after that point was garbage, and because it was so bad it ruins the 2nd movie since they were all part of one large movie.

All you were watching in most of 3 and all of 4 was a video game let's play. John Wick wasn't even John Wick in this movie. All he was, was a video game avatar who spat out the occasional one word sentence, probably for a laugh, and to keep reminding you what a badass John Wick was, as if the 2 hours of Wick having every bone smashed in his body just to get back up without even any dust on his black suit wasn't in your face in between the very few scenes that pass as dialogue. Even Ian McShane's Winston was a one-dimensional caricature of himself. The single redeeming quality of the last movie was Donnie Yen's Caine character. Well, that and the fact that we'll never get a John Wick 5.

I think everybody needs to go back and watch John Wick 1 again and reevaluate their opinions on 4. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/john_wick

At least the last two movies don't ruin the 1st movie like The Matrix sequels did to the original. Part of that is because although highly entertaining, the first John Wick is no The Matrix. The other part is because those last two movies are so forgettable that I could watch the original again a year from now and completely forget everything that happened in the sequels by that time.

The Matrix was the perfect standalone movie. John Wick was a very good standalone movie.

Skip the sequels.

The producers did not know where to go next with The Matrix or John Wick but they did want to milk the brand names for more money so they copied what was most obvious about the two stories: lethal fighting. I don't think the producers know why anything works and they don't have any ideas beyond copying what worked once for entirely unknown reasons. Each new John Wick makes more money than the previous movie, which keeps producers making more John Wick, at least until the ticket sales drop.

You're right, and it's just sad.

John Wick was just so good on so many levels. You had the mystery going on where everybody in the know knew who he was and was terrified of him, but you as the audience member knew just as much about Wick as the fool who killed his dog and took his car. You got to see the glimpses into the past about his dead wife, about his own brutally dark past that he regrets every second of his life, and watch how in his worst moments he pulls out that cell phone again to rewatch that video of them together that you got the feeling he's watched thousands of times the first time you see it. You find out that even though he's a man of little words, he's quite a dynamic character. A man who spent most of his life being the evil that kept other evil men awake at night, but fought against every instinct in his body to put that behind him and be a better man for somebody outside of himself. You FEEL how much he lost when his wife died, and come to understand that when she was taken from him, he lost the ONLY thing in his life that ever had any meaning. And when somebody killed the only living thing tying him to the memory of that light, he had nothing left to lose and nothing left to prevent him from allowing the darkness to envelop him once again.

They lost a little of that during the 2nd movie but they also managed to elevate other characters and keep everything interesting, but by the middle of the 3rd movie it was all gone. Not just gone, but it was as if it was never there in the first place. Pretending that any personality was still there by the throwaway line "Loving Husband" being put on his tombstone to Winston in the last act was just insulting to the first movie and the audience, and most of all to the character of John Wick.

John Wick during the last 4 to 5 hours of the John Wick series was not John Wick. He was little more than a practically invincible, one-liner spewing avatar for the audience to live out their own violent fantasies by proxy, just like any character you'd play in a Grand Theft Auto game. And everybody else in the movie was just mindless NPCs there to move the dumb plot along just enough to get you to the next boring 30 minute fight scene.

The "shock" ending was just the final insult. "Oh, gee! John dies in the end!" I see where you could be confused that that happens since every other minute during the last 4-5 hours of the series inflicts enough damage to him that would kill any real person 10 times over up until those final moments, but who gives a shit? I got a great laugh out of it at that point and was thrilled to know that they'll never make another John Wick flick after what they did to him.

Although, I know from the coda that was referred to in the OP of this thread by JSF that they fully plan on making a spin-off sequel with sexy-Asian-girl-power-father-vengeance in mind to hopefully keep that money rolling in until people stop paying for it. I won't be watching that one. I don't find this stuff amusing anymore.

If making money is the only goal then mission accomplished. Congrats to them.

But this is an example of why your post in the other thread about "based off my arguments The Blair Witch Project is the best movie ever made" isn't a good argument. My threads about Disney failing aren't really about how they're making terrible movies. They're about how they're making constant financial failure's for movies because of the decisions that they keep making and failing to learn from. The fact that they're terrible movies is a reason that they're failures, but it's not the only reason, and the success of John Wick 4 is great evidence of that. Honestly, I can't believe the critics gave it a 94% on RT, and then the audience comes out and gives it a 93%.

John Wick 4 was an absolute piece of shit.

Maybe The People really don't deserve better than this.

... But John Wick did.
