I have seen blurbs claiming this was the best horror film in a while, and I cannot disagree.
I had heard this film described as a Horror film. But the descriptions kept making me think it was closer to a whodunit.

I had to wait a while to see it, finally got it ordered and reserved at the Library.

I don't recall ever seeing Brian Cox in a horror film, although I've seen most of his work. But this one is worthy of him. Sometimes hard to know before production begins, but this script surely showed promise.

The autopsy creates a multitude of mysteries, surrounding the finding of the body, the process of the autopsy, the findings during the autopsy. There are many cliche scenes, derivative of other horror films. I think those were red herrings, to distract from the clues. I was wondering if the stream of random mysteries would make sense or become unraveled, it seemed to be getting derailed with non-sequitors,
Eventually it is all wrapped up, and plausibly explained. The mysteries were all clues.

If you don't give up on the clues, see if you can figure out the answers before they are spelled out for you. In this way, it really was the whodunit that I thought it would be. I wish I hadn't given up trying to solve it.

I wish Ophelia Lovibond had more screen time.

I don't recall the last time I saw a film this good which was horror genre. We may be seeing a few years of films following this style, but I am not the first to point that out.

Once you see it, it's funny to consider which one character/actor will be most likely in a sequel.
