There's a lot of sweet in there. The moment I held that little thing in my arms, I was so excited. It does look pretty -- then it has that TV show that I love so much in it. -- Joss on the Firefly DVDs

6ixStringJack: I never really took that seriously years ago because it was never a problem. Until the one time that it was, and I had corrupted most of the data I had on a stick by not ejecting it. Probably 99 times out of 100 you're not going to damage any files by pulling the stick without ejecting it first, but there could be that one time where something was hanging out in limbo when you pull it and now you're stuck with corrupted data on a thumbstick you have to reformat and use from scratch. Just make sure you power the machine down before pulling the stick if you can't figure out the eject process from the article.
6ixStringJack: Great. Don't forget that step at the end to "eject" the USB drive. Most modern computers this isn't an issue, but I don't know how old yours is and I know you're not using Windows 11, so it could be an issue. If you don't understand the "eject" process from the article and it would be hard to explain online, you can just wait until you power down your PC to pull the stick out without any problems. You just don't want to pull it out without ejecting if your computer is set for "write caching" enabled. "Ejecting" the drive/thumbstick makes sure all files are closed and you won't have any data corruption when you pull the stick. But shutting down the PC will make it safe to pull out no matter what.
Brenda: Yeah, now that I have all the info it should be easy. Just have to do it on a day when I can give it all my attention so I don't mess up. Also have to see and remember where the USB ports are on the case. There should be two in the front. Will double check that.
6ixStringJack: Yeah. You can just copy your files directly to the thumbdrive for now, just to make sure that they're backed up. If you get more comfortable with files and folders down the road, you can make folders to organize stuff. Like you can have your book and all your book notes in one folder, and any pictures from your emails in a separate folder just so everything doesn't get all jumbled up on you. Good stuff to know if you end up having a lot of files. But for right now, you should just plug that baby in and copy over your book to start just so you know it's safe.
Brenda: Little white lie. I looked at the link and wrote down the title of it and I will get things backed now that I know how. Sorry for that.
6ixStringJack: Hey Ted... BTW... Trump's Approval/Disapproval spread is now at least 3 points better than Biden's in his only term on this day, and both Obama and GWB's in their 2nd terms on this day in the aggregate. I figured I'd leave you with that little update in case it's the last thing you ever hear from me.
6ixStringJack: You did it! You were able to back up your stuff on the drive too???
Brenda: Thanks for the link again SIX. Got it all straight. Also thanks for the help.
6ixStringJack: Shut the fuck up, Ted.
THG: Stop, give Haken a chance to fix the site.
6ixStringJack: Oh... to Bookmark it, you need to open it in a new tab or window and hold CTRL and press D with it in the current tab/window. If you hold CTRL D here, you will bookmark fireflyfans instead.
6ixStringJack: Here it is again so it doesn't age off: [go to link] You can bookmark it in your browser by holding down the CTRL button to the left of the spacebar and press D. Or you can right click the link, select "Copy Link" from the pop-up menu and then paste the link into a word document by either pressing and holding CTRL and pressing V, or by right clicking the mouse anywhere and selecting "Paste" from the menu that appears.
Brenda: No, I didn't get to the link too day. Haven't played morning mah jong in a while then I had to tromp down to cardiologist's office to make appointment for stress test. Fell a sleep too in chair. And I'm not sure about saving links.
6ixStringJack: Hey Brenda. Did you copy that link and/or take a look at it yet? Let me know if you do and you have a hard time with it or not. I don't ever want to see happen to your book what might be happening to our site here right now.
6ixStringJack: Maybe you should set up a Wix website, Ted. I'd consider doing it myself, but I wouldn't expect either you or Second to trust me. The site makes it easy to create a new website pretty quickly. It wouldn't be the same, and we wouldn't need all of these categories, but it might be the only way we get to keep arguing with our little group instead of out there in the void of modern social media where nobody listens to anything you post even to argue with you and the only replies and likes you ever get are from Nigerian catfish scammers. Wix: [go to link]/
THG: Stop, give Haken a chance to fix the site.
second: Stephen Miller says "nobody is going to fight the United States militarily over Greenland" one day after posting that Western nations should not have given up empires after WWII. [go to link]
THG: Give it a rest folks
THG: HAKEN: Hi All. I'm not sure what's wrong with the message boards because it just stopped working. To make matters worse, it'll take me a while to figure out why because I wrote the code over 25 years ago and EVERYTHING is way past end of life, including the development environment and the framework that the site was developed with. I don't have a way to debug things right now and even if I could, I'm not sure I can build a running version that'll work the same. Anyway, give me a bit of time to figure things out and then decide where we can go from there.
Brenda: Hi Six. I will take a look at the link tomorrow if the site is still around. I got all your messages. I hope this isn't the end. Site was gone for me a while ago and just came back. If it is the end. So long.
