DVDs to the troops - money was raised to purchase the Firefly DVDs, and they were donated to the troops (Navy specifically) I believe we were able to raise enough money to provide all the USO's? with a set, I know for a fact one made it to the Kittyhawk, my best friend reported back they were showing it while the ship was at sea. 2. June 23 - Equality Now event raised over $65,000 www.cantstoptheserenity.com a worldwide event 3. Browncoat drive - Browncoats collected browncoats which were donated to the less fortunate 4. There was the sizeable donation raised for Equality Now in Nathan's name (the attempt to buy him the real browncoat) 5. AARG (Arial Ambulance rescue group) rescued a large prop from a scrap yard and are restoring it. 6. www.niceguycomics.com Browncoats helped him raise enough money to buy a new van 7. Individual Browncoat groups have been doing DVD drives off and on donating sets to local libraries 8. Also, lest we forget, www.donetheimpossible.com Oprah is really big on charity stuff, and so are Browncoats

It was, in a word, awful... Another author and I were on tour together when the levee broke and we watched it on CNN--horrified not only due to the scope of the disaster, but also because we have several friends living there. We ran an auction that raised 10K+, then loaded my truck with physical donations (water, food, clothing, etc) and drove down from STL. Spent 10 days doing cleanup, then returned home terribly depressed by everything we witnessed. Fortunately, the city is coming back. Slowly, but it's happening...
