Seriously, my mom needs to get up at 4 am, so she usually goes to bed around 7. It's 11 pm now... And she doesn't even like Sci-Fi. Anyone else introduced their folks to the show? Did they love it? Hate it? Buy the DVD? Share your stories.

FOLLOWMAL

My Mom is a FF/S fan. :-)
I introduced her to it and she's a pretty big fan.
Big enough she went to B3 with me.

She not only bought the DVD's and the Serenity CE, but she's shared them with my brother because she thought he'd love it too.

My Mom is 74 and not a big fan of SciFi, but she thinks Firefly is different. And of course we know it's magic. :-)

Got my mom hooked last year. She loves the series. My dad really likes it as well. Also recently got two of my cousins into the series. Funny thing is I hardly know them. I met them both once eight years... anyway long story but there's not many family members left for me to immerse into our ... 'verse... I know that was corny.

showed an ep or two of Firefly to my ex-gf ... then she bought it for herself

took her to Serenity before it went off the big screen in 2005

Bought both editions of Serenity for the ex

Lent my copies of Firefly (and I believe, the BDM)to a co-worker and she and her bf loved the show and movie

Bought Firefly and Serenity for my local library

BTW: I don't think my mother would like Firefly or Serenity .... she would probably frown on the violence, et al

I introduced both my parents to Firefly. My dad really liked it. My mom couldn't follow it very well but she's a big fan of Ron Glass from his Barney Miller days so she watches it anyway.
They're funny, though. They don't own any DVDs so they didn't buy Firefly. They're Netflix junkies but they never actually buy anything.
I did it more so they could understand my involvement in the fandom. I was never interested in anything like this growing up so I think they were a little perplexed.
Now they get why I love FF/S enough to devote my summers to organizing a charity event.
