I just noticed this game when I was Christmas shopping the other day--it looks very Firefly-esque. The main character looks somewhat like Mal, and the ship on the box is reminiscent of Serenity. The game looks to be about a solo outlaw/trader who flies from world to world, taking any cargo job in order to keep going. It's set in a 30th Century with a used up Earth and a host of frontier worlds.

Does anyone know anything about this game? would it be a good gift for Firefly fans?

I tried it and didn't care for it. Some other people on here liked it. There was a thread on the subject a while back and someone suggested Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos. I loved that one. You actually play a pirate doing very Fireflyesque things. It came out a year or two back so it may be harder to find, but should be cheap when you do.
