At the beginning of Serenity the Earth had no green on it, like everything was desert, and Florida seemed to have lost quite a bit of shoreline, as if water levels were signifigantly higher.

Or was it just me?

Didn't notice the Florida bit, but yeah, it was all dried-up lookin. I imagine that's what the place will look like when we've used it all up. Though, at the rate we're going, I don't think it'll take quite as long as it did in the Firefly 'verse to get there.

If ya pause it, it looks like the whole coast is kinda ragged, maybe storm torn or some such.

(personally, I lean toward the belief that snow, not desert, is what's gonna make our lives interesting in the next couple score years...)

the future will not be user friendly...

i have to jump to another movie, and say that as bad a guy as Agent Smith was in Matrix...he did nail it when he talked about the human species as a plague on the face of this earth.... we do have a tendency to be a very wasteful and destructive bunch.....

and i did notice how the earth looked....only i thought there should have been more land covered by water....
