At the official site, they have wallpaper available -- 2 cast shots, and our first crystal clear shot of the Serenity.

Viewing windows, battle damage, ... and solar panels? hmmm.

I wonder if the ship, itself, has any weapons. I don't see any. And we know that in the Firefly-verse, guns with actual bullets are still used, no lasers. It's set just 400 yrs in the future, so the low-tech approach is time-appropriate, refreshing, and is a money-saver.

I wonder what the specs are for the Serenity. Those panels look pretty fragile. I wonder what its offensive and defensive capabilities are.

Yup, Serenity's a civillian transport. Only time she's ever had a mounted gun was in the movie. All offensive capabilities are in the "harsh language" category (or the "Jayne leaning out of the airlock with Vera" category). Defensive capabilities are in the "Run away! Run away!" category.

I'd imagine it'd be possible to add external weapons, but it'd cost you in terms of ammo. It'd also be like hanging a big honkin' sign on your bow that says WE ARE ENGAGED IN ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES. PLEASE ARREST US.

Check out some of the old Brian Daly Han Solo Adventures books to see how much trouble the Falcon's quad guns were just by being there.
