Hello all,

Could she be diesel powered? Compression ignition of flammable chemical, requiring oxygen (from the atmosphere) in order to ignite and fire the round?

I don't remember where I heard of read this, but they (Joss and cast) said that they got it wrong.

They asked a military guy about it, and he said it would need air around it to fire, but a bunch of people later corrected them after seeing the episode.

Somebody help me out here, am I crazy?

You're not crazy. I just never realized that Joss admitted to getting it wrong. Where is this admission recorded? It would end a lot of debate about Vera's unusual properties. (And by debate, I mean desperately explaining away what was said about her.)
