On Wednesday, Amazon MGM Studios announced that it has given the green light to an original new Stargate series led by Martin Gero. The former screenwriter and co-executive producer of Stargate: Atlantis is the creator and executive producer for the new series, which will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

they last shot...can the franchise (t) ake off again or will they have to give it to some Anime studio

Stargate starts way back in the year 1994 a science fiction movie, then SG1 became a tv show a separate culture on the show but somewhat connected to the movie, then a number of spin off tv shows. SG1, its been off the air for 14 years.

I'm not going to watch the trailer, at least not now.

But I'll revise my original statement and say maybe it's a coin flip.

Amazon made the biggest financial mistake of it's history with all the Lord of the Rings woke garbage, but they did seem to learn some lessons before they made Fallout.

I don't care what anybody says negative about it. I'm a die-hard fallout fan, and I was into it, despite 1 or 2 questionable decisions they made.

But I wonder how much Amazon's success with Fallout there had to do with Todd Howard and Bethesda being heavily involved. I know a lot of people have a lot of bad things to say about both Todd Howard and Bethesda too these days too, but somebody made sure all the right people were involved and made a really good show. It is the first video game property that I both enjoyed and took seriously. And those set pieces were pure artwork and really did a great job with the immersion, especially for anyone who was a fan of the games.

If they get some of the OG crew back together to head Stargate, it could be good. If they give it to whatever remains of their millennial woke diversity hire crew that is still hanging on, it's either going to do as bad as all the woke Star Trek reboot shit, or it's going to be a full fledged train-wreck like Lord of the Rings and just make everyone grateful that nobody's tried to reboot Firefly yet.

I loved the original series and watched the whole run of it. It had some really great stories and some funny ones too. They even had a Airforce general from the Joint Chiefs of Staff on the show. Cameo. After Richard Dean Anderson asked him if they had any Colonels like O'Neill in the Air force. General said a few.

Oh and by the way O'Neill must be spelt with two lls.

I do wonder who the cast is for the show.

I didn't regularly watch it, but it was on a lot on Sci-Fi when I was in my early 20's. I didn't get the idea that it had a whole lot of over-arching stories like streaming shows today are known for and it was mostly Eposidic like the Star Trek shows mostly were before the new millennium, so I never felt like I was lost.

A few years later a co-worker let me borrow a couple of seasons of the main show and I watched all of them. I liked it. Not my favorite show of all time or anything, but I could think of far worse ways to pass the time.

Chances are, if they get a mostly young cast I'm not going to know who any of them are. I could probably only name 5 actors/actresses under 30 in 2025.
