Fuck it! I'm here, why not!? There's word that he once was a cross-dresser and pulled the wings of butterflies; drowned puppies and molested little girls in Southern Ohio.

Benghazi was his idea (he really wanted that oil) and he once Instagrammed a pic of
him and Qaddaffi ball slapping each other. Marla Maples was really a guy who blackmailed The Donald. And he wears an SS uniform while dancing to the music of
the Dusseldorf Five; with a black Hitler mustache thong.

Hey this made up shit is FUN!

One more time, Benghazi was his idea. Damn!, that feels good. Now I know why you
guys use it against Hilary, so much fun!

Donald Trump Kept Hitler Speeches By His Bed.
http://forward.com/the-assimilator/318664/trump-and-hitler/

In honor of The Donald’s candidacy for the Republican nomination, Vanity Fair has re-published a 1990 profile of Donald Trump, written by Marie Brenner. Remember, this was back before his hair (can we even call it that?) was fodder for every comic ever. Instead, they had to settle for his blatant sexism, racism, and overinflated ego.

According to the piece, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that Trump often re-read “My New Order,” a collection of Adolf Hitler’s speeches from 1918-1939. What’s more, Trump allegedly kept the book in a cabinet by his bed.

When Brenner asked about the book, Trump said, “Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of Mein Kampf, and he’s a Jew.”

Later, Trump said, “If I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them.”

The best part? While Davis acknowledged being Trump’s friend, and giving him a copy of “My New Order” (not “Mein Kampf” as Trump claimed), he isn’t even Jewish.

Donald Trump’s aides recently made headlines for comparing Obama to Hitler on Facebook and inserting Nazi SS uniforms into a promotional Twitter image.

Here’s the full excerpt, per Vanity Fair:
www.vanityfair.com/news/2015/08/donald-trump-marie-brenner-ivana-divor
ce

Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler’s collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed. Kennedy now guards a copy of My New Order in a closet at his office, as if it were a grenade. Hitler’s speeches, from his earliest days up through the Phony War of 1939, reveal his extraordinary ability as a master propagandist.

“Did your cousin John give you the Hitler speeches?” I asked Trump.

Trump hesitated. “Who told you that?”

“I don’t remember,” I said.

“Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of Mein Kampf, and he’s a Jew.” (“I did give him a book about Hitler,” Marty Davis said. “But it was My New Order, Hitler’s speeches, not Mein Kampf. I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but I’m not Jewish.”)

Later, Trump returned to this subject. “If I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them.”

Quote:

Politics is history in the making. History itself is the presentation of the course of a Folk's struggle for existence. I deliberately use the phrase struggle for existence here because, in truth, that struggle for daily bread, equally in peace and war, is an eternal battle against thousands upon thousands of resistances, just as life itself is an eternal struggle against death. For men know as little why they live as does any other creature of the world. Only life is filled with the longing to preserve itself. The most primitive creature knows only the instinct of the self preservation of its own, in creatures standing higher in the scale it is transferred to wife and child, and in those standing still higher to the entire species. While, apparently, man often surrenders his own instinct of self preservation for the sake of the species, in truth he nevertheless serves it to the highest degree. For not seldom the preservation of the life of a whole Folk, and with this of the individual, lies only in this renunciation by the individual. Hence the sudden courage of a mother in the defence of her young and the heroism of a man in the defence of his Folk. The two powerful life instincts, hunger and love, correspond to the greatness of the instinct for self preservation. While the appeasement of eternal hunger guarantees self preservation, the satisfaction of love assures the continuance of the race. In truth these two drives are the rulers of life. And even though the fleshless aesthete may lodge a thousand protests against such an assertion, the fact of his own existence is already a refutation of his protest. Nothing that is made of flesh and blood can escape the laws which determined its coming into being. As soon as the human mind believes itself to be superior to them, it destroys that real substance which is the bearer of the mind.

My Order- Adolph Hitler

Quote:

To me Vienna, the city which, to so many, is the epitome of innocent pleasure, a festive playground for merrymakers, represents, I am sorry to say, merely the living memory of the saddest period of my life.

Even today this city can arouse in me nothing but the most dismal thoughts. For me the name of this Phaeacian city I represents five years of hardship and misery. Five years in which was forced to earn a living, first as a day laborer, then as a small painter; a truly meager living which never sufficed to appease even my daily hunger. Hunger was then my faithful bodyguard; he never left me for a moment and partook of all I had, share and share alike. Every book I acquired aroused his interest; a visit to the Opera prompted his attentions for days at a time; my life was a continuous struggle with this pitiless friend. And yet during this time I studied as never before. Aside from my architecture and my rare visits to the Opera, paid-for in hunger, I had but one pleasure: my books.

Mein Kampf- Adolph Hitler

One of the interesting things that I heard in that extended video of the Left Forum, in which Chris Hedges speaks, was Hedges' decrying of the flabby left (my words) In essence, what he said was that

if the right wing becomes powerful, it's because the left has offered no alternative to people who are suffering.

https://www.rt.com/usa/343942-left-forum-day-two/ (Hedges starting at about 38 minutes)

Too true. I know somebody who knew somebody who lived in Weimar Germany as a boy and young man. (He is dead now, passed away a decade ago.) Some people, including this person and his family, were starving. They literally boiled shoes and ate them to appease their hunger.

What do liberals offer to that?

Nothing. They vote for Hillary, who was one of the supporters of gutting welfare as we know it.

Trump knows, as Hillary can't afford to know, that the economic recovery is a mirage and that jobs have been exported overseas or given to illegals at home. Now whether Trump will actually do anything about it is an open question, but Hillary will certainly opt for More Of The Same.

Not "to whom".

"That": kind of situation, that kind of problem. Not person. That person was an example of a problem.

To answer the question more fully, liberals "feel sorry" for the dispossessed. Sometimes they institute charity, or they allow mass migration into their nations, or - in a fit of mutated logic- they can be induced into bombing people to smithereens with the idea that this somehow "protects" the victims.

Seldom do liberals ask WHY and HOW people have become dispossessed in the first place. If they did, they might have to challenge the powerful.

"Pity would be no more if we did not MAKE men poor"

Cranky today, aren't you? Look what Trump has to offer. Do I need to mention that Trump has a secret plan to defeat ISIS? He can't share it right now. You'll have to wait until after he is elected. Assessing Obama’s war on inequality
www.houstonchronicle.com/opinion/outlook/article/Krugman-Assessing-Oba
ma-s-war-on-inequality-7938947.php

Paul Krugman says president’s new rules on OT pay will do more than most people realize to fight income imbalance.

There were two big economic policy stories this week that you may have missed if you were distracted by Trumpian bombast and the yelling of the Sanders dead-enders. Each tells you a lot about both what President Barack Obama has accomplished and the stakes in this year’s election.

One of those stories, I’m sorry to say, did involve Donald Trump: The presumptive Republican nominee — who has already declared that he will, in fact, slash taxes on the rich, whatever he may have said in the recent past — once again declared his intention to do away with Dodd-Frank, the financial reform passed during Democrats’ brief window of congressional control. Just for the record, while Trump is sometimes described as a “populist,” almost every substantive policy he has announced would make the rich richer at workers’ expense.

The other story was about a policy change achieved through executive action: The Obama administration issued new guidelines on overtime pay, which will benefit an estimated 12.5 million workers.

What both stories tell us is that the Obama administration has done much more than most people realize to fight extreme economic inequality. That fight will continue if Hillary Clinton wins the election; it will go into sharp reverse if Trump wins.

Step back for a minute and ask, what can policy do to limit inequality? The answer is, it can operate on two fronts. It can engage in redistribution, taxing high incomes and aiding families with lower incomes . It can also engage in what is sometimes called “predistribution,” strengthening the bargaining power of lower-paid workers and limiting the opportunities for a handful of people to make giant sums. In practice, governments that succeed in limiting inequality generally do both.

We can see this in our own history. The middle-class society that baby boomers like me grew up in didn’t happen by accident; it was created by the New Deal, which engineered what economists call the “Great Compression,” a sharp reduction in income gaps. On one side, pro-labor policies led to a striking expansion of unions, which, along with the establishment of a fairly high minimum wage, helped raise wages, especially at the bottom. On the other side, taxes on the wealthy went up sharply, while major programs like Social Security aided working families.

We can also see this in cross-country comparisons. Among advanced countries, the U.S. has the highest level of inequality, Denmark the lowest. How does Denmark do it? Partly with higher taxes and bigger social programs, but it starts with lower inequality in market incomes, thanks in large part to high minimum wages and a labor movement representing two-thirds of workers.

Now, America isn’t about to become Denmark, and Obama, facing relentless opposition in Congress, has never been in a position to repeat the New Deal. But more has happened than you might think. Most obviously, Obamacare provides aid and subsidies mainly to lower-income working Americans, and it pays for that aid partly with higher taxes at the top. That makes it an important redistributionist policy — the biggest such policy since the 1960s.

And between those extra Obamacare taxes and the expiration of the high-end Bush tax cuts made possible by Obama’s re-election, the average federal tax rate on the top 1 percent has risen quite a lot. In fact, it’s roughly back to what it was in 1979, pre-Ronald Reagan, something nobody seems to know.

What about predistribution? Well, why is Trump, like everyone in the GOP, so eager to repeal financial reform? Because despite what you may have heard about its ineffectuality, Dodd-Frank actually has put a substantial crimp in the ability of Wall Street to make money hand over fist. It doesn’t go far enough, but it’s significant enough to have bankers howling.

And while the move on overtime comes late in the game, it’s a pretty big deal and could be the beginning of much broader action.

Nothing Obama has done will put more than a modest dent in American inequality. But his actions aren’t trivial, either. And even these medium-size steps put the lie to the pessimism and fatalism one hears all too often on this subject. No, America isn’t an oligarchy. Money talks on both sides of the aisle, but the influence of big donors hasn’t prevented the current president from doing a substantial amount to narrow income gaps — and he would have done much more if he’d faced less opposition in Congress.

And in this as in so much else, it matters hugely whom the nation chooses as his successor.

I just wanted to point out an error - the top marginal income tax went up from 25% to 62% (37% absolute or 250% relative) BEFORE 1933 and the New Deal. FDR then raised it again after 1933 from 62% to ~92% (30% absolute or 150% relative).

But if Hillary is running on Obama's record rather than her own proposed policies, she would be carrying a heavy burden. In fact, a burden of roughly half the democratic party. And btw, that you're calling half the voting democrats with legitimate concerns 'dead-enders' says volumes about you, and by extension, Hillary-lovers in general.

Nothing Obama has done will put more than a modest dent in American inequality. But his actions aren’t trivial, either.

The income inequality gap tells a different story. I don't see that gap narrowing - do you? Maybe you could point it out.

Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate has plummeted during Obama's term. Or perhaps you can point out where it's gone up.

So Obama's actions to help working people? They'd aspire to being merely trivial.

Also, I fully expect you to ignore these inconvenient truths that have put a lie to your false claims, just as you have ignored every other fact that proved you wrong.

Let me just point out that the author left out vital relevant facts in the opinion piece. Doing that is known as cherry-picking. I thought this was about Trump. Am I mistaken?

Nobody but Bernie has any plans to apply the brakes on how fast a person or corporation could increase their wealth. But Bernie, as President, needs Congress to cooperate with his plans. I doubt Congress will.

As for Trump, I disbelieve his plan: www.donaldjtrump.com/positions/tax-reform

Trump is the guy saying the USA has the highest taxes in the world, when that is not true. There is no reason for me to believe Trump believes in his own plan.

There is a paper that covers this called: “Why Hasn’t Democracy Slowed Rising Inequality?”
http://voteview.com/pdf/jep_BMPR.pdf
So you don't have to read the paper, I'll summarize: The wealthy top 1% have strongly turned against redistribution. Congress follows the 1% because the bottom 50% can't be bothered to vote or read the paper “Why Hasn’t Democracy Slowed Rising Inequality?”.

I will repeat that: Since the bottom 50% won’t vote, the top 1% will have their way in the USA. Trump, Bernie and Hillary will not be running a get out the vote for the bottom 50%.

That the bottom 50% need to help each other and even vote for the advantage of each other seems so very unAmerican to the bottom 50%. The top 1% can take advantage of this lack of cooperation at the bottom. Trump, Bernie and Hillary are not going to fix that.

45% of Bernie voters say they’re #NeverHillary, 15% will vote for Trump

This must be the lamest attempt at strawman argument for reasonable people to ignore all the facts, truth, anecdotes of Hilliary, and all of the crimes she has committed.

That applies to Obama, to Hillary, and the 'democratic' party. And their failure to do that is the reason why they have lost American hearts and minds and, oh let's not forget, congress and the governorships. 50% of voters USED to identify as 'd'. And they USED to come out and VOTE. Now it's down to 30%. And their vote is in question.

It's not a 'them' fault. They know how to support the democratic party. They've done it before. It's a 'democratic' party fault that walked away from its vision of fairness, opportunity, freedom and hope.

When was the last time the 'democrats' stood for something? And what is Hillary doing to bring people back into the 'd' fold? Courting republicans? Schmoozing with her fellow neocons?

You said "hearts and minds"! You know what ended the Democrats’ control of the majority of governorships and state legislatures? The Civil Rights Acts. Look into the hearts and minds of Texans who are R's. When LBJ was alive they were Democrats, but now they are Republicans. Your theory that the Democratic Party is at fault ignores why D’s immigrated to R’s. The R hearts are mean, the R minds are small. I want to go back to Insulting Trump. Trump has succeeded in the land of the free-for-all, a place where narcissism is rewarded with undivided attention. Trump has just about won the Republican nomination, not because he's the best man, not because he knows jack all about governing, government, foreign policy or any other policy, not because he's rich, not because he's got a new vision, not because he's promised the moon, not because he wants to help the poor, but because he's loud. He's so loud that we can hear him all the way over here on the other side of the Atlantic.

He has always been loud, always looking for attention, a poor little rich boy who probably didn't get enough of it when it mattered. Narcissism usually has its roots in some chronic childhood slight. Whether it's the father or the mother who's at fault doesn't matter. Now we've got this big old baby begging for more on a national scale.

Trump has been around a long time. For as long as I can remember he's been a risible figure on the New York party scene, a local show-off who put his syllable on buildings and a series of trophy wives. He was never taken seriously before, and the fact that he is now being taken seriously points to a deep sickness in the American psyche, an infantilism that projects the mechanisms of The Apprentice, or America's Top Model, or from earlier times, Queen for a Day on the future destiny of the nation. Reality has been left behind in the blurred lines between TV and life.

Someone I knew who had worked for a soap opera production company once told me that weddings were a no-no in a soap opera, the reason being that the TV station would be inundated with wedding gifts for the fictional newlyweds, from fans who were unable distinguish fact from fiction, reality from TV.

Now that we're at a point where a minor TV celebrity is actually posing as a serious candidate for an office that ought to embody intelligence, experience, knowledge, maturity, and leadership abilities, we have to ask ourselves where it all went wrong, before it's too late.
. . .
But seeing the ascendency of those whom Roger Cohen in the New York Times calls the ‘know-nothings'—and Trump is surely one of them—I've changed my mind.
. . .
In America, on the other hand, it is the cult of personality that defines politics. A brilliant, knowledgeable wimp will always lose out to a charismatic know-nothing—a perilous situation for a country the size of America with its military might and increasingly dysfunctional two-party system.

Some journalists are suddenly rushing to say that it's okay if Trump wins as long as he's got good advisers. Somehow I'm not convinced, envisioning a scenario where an expert with years of experience and know-how is suddenly fired for cracking a joke or using more than one syllable.

Once in a while, charisma is accompanied by intelligence and honorable intentions. Obama was such a man, even if he was thwarted at many turns by the Republicans. If Trump wins the election, we will miss Obama for a long time to come.
. . .
The reason Trump has gotten as far as he has is that the country has itself become narcissistic, its obsession with its own greatness (as in all-powerful) the dangerous symptom of a national pathology that can only do harm. Narcissism is always about a deficit of self-esteem. With the wrong person at the helm next year, the rest of the world could be in for a nasty surprise.

Trump on Global Warming
www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2016/05/trumpapalooza-may-23-2016

Publicly, Trump has made it clear that he thinks global warming is a hoax. But when it comes to building a sea wall to protect one of his golf courses, it turns out he's a true believer: "If the predictions of an increase in sea level rise as a result of global warming prove correct," his company says in a letter, "it could reasonably be expected that the rate of sea level rise might become twice of that presently occurring....As a result, we would expect the rate of dune recession to increase."

Trump is a Rapist
www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2016/05/trumpapalooza-may-23-2016

Trump's former wife Ivana said Trump raped her in a sworn deposition. Given how central a role rape accusations have played in Trump's campaign — against Mexicans, political opponents, etc. it is clearly a highly germane question, as frankly it would be for any presidential candidate.

The details surrounding the alleged rape are bizarrely novelistic even by Trumpian standards. According to Ivana, Trump was driven to freakish rage by a failed anti-baldness surgery — a so-called 'scalp reduction'. But the actions are very clear cut. According to her deposition, Trump flew into a rage, attacked her, held her down and began pulling hair out of her head to mimic his pain and then forcibly penetrated her....This was a pretty concrete and specific [accusation]. And the author of the book that first surfaced the deposition said he'd found numerous friends of Ivana's who she had confided the incident to at the time.

Poor Ivana! She had to deal with this naked slob! Ugh. I see why she divorced him.

Trump says Hillary murdered Vince Foster
www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2016/05/trumpapalooza-may-23-2016

The right-wing fever swamp has long believed that Vince Foster, a deputy White House counsel in the Clinton administration, didn't commit suicide on July 20, 1993. Rather, Hillary Clinton had him murdered and then ordered his body dragged to Fort Marcy Park, where he was found the next day. Even by conservative standards this is both fantastical and repulsive (Foster was a good friend of Hillary's). Naturally, that didn't stop Trump:

When asked in an interview last week about the Foster case, Trump dealt with it as he has with many edgy topics — raising doubts about the official version of events even as he says he does not plan to talk about it on the campaign trail. He called theories of possible foul play “very serious” and the circumstances of Foster’s death “very fishy.”

“He had intimate knowledge of what was going on,” Trump said, speaking of Foster’s relationship with the Clintons at the time. “He knew everything that was going on, and then all of a sudden he committed suicide.” He added, “I don’t bring [Foster’s death] up because I don’t know enough to really discuss it. I will say there are people who continue to bring it up because they think it was absolutely a murder. I don’t do that because I don’t think it’s fair.”

Once Trump is President, he won't be making his future income tax returns available to the public.

Trump has not released his past income tax returns. Taxes will be part of President Trump’s downfall, as it was for Nixon. So too with Agnew, Nixon’s Vice President, who resigned because he was a tax cheat along with his other unsavory qualities.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiro_Agnew#Resignation

Nixon paid less than $6,000 in federal income tax while earning more than $790,000 of aggregate income during 1970, 1971, and 1972. Nixon's taxes were an issue that average citizens readily understood as compared to the constitutional issues raised by the Watergate investigation. Most taxpayers -- with far less income than Nixon -- had paid more federal income tax than the president.

Mary Walton McCandlish Livingston, a federal archivist testified before Congress that President Richard M. Nixon's donated papers were improperly backdated. Mrs. Livingston, a senior archivist in the Office of Presidential Libraries at the National Archives for 30 years, supervised work on Nixon's early papers. In March 1970, while working with a manuscript dealer chosen by Nixon, she selected 1,176 boxes of personal papers that the president intended to donate to the nation. A change in federal tax law would have prevented Nixon from taking a deduction for the donation. But the dealer prepared an affidavit that said Nixon donated his vice presidential papers a year earlier than he actually did, which gave the president a $450,000 tax break. Public indignation at Nixon's nonpayment of federal taxes led to a hearing before the Joint Committee on Internal Revenue Taxation. Mrs. Livingston testified that the president could not have donated the papers in 1969 because the dealer asked her to select the papers a year later....

The dealer aroused her suspicions from the start, Mrs. Livingston told the committee, when he wanted her to keep their interaction from her supervisor. She promptly filed a memo to her boss. Three years later, when a newspaper story mentioned Nixon's tax deductions, she wrote another memo, suggesting that investigators seek out the original deed of donation. Her testimony before Congress resulted in a 1974 ruling that the deduction was improper. She was also an important witness in the 1975 fraud trial of the manuscript dealer, who was convicted. Mrs. Livingston received an award from the Society of American Archivists for her "conscientious performance of duty."

None of your false choices. Moving on to real choices that Trump had to make today:

Donald Trump pledged $1 million at a charity fundraiser for veterans.

Four months later, after considerable digging, the Washington Post was unable to find any evidence that he had made good on his pledge, so they asked his campaign manager about it.

On Friday, Corey Lewandowski said "The money is fully spent. Mr. Trump’s money is fully spent."

So who did Trump give money to? "He's not going to share that information."

So the Post kept digging all day Monday. Finally, today, we learned that Lewandowski had lied. Trump had not, in fact, given any money to anyone. The Washington Post had been querying charities on social media, trying to find evidence that his $1 million had been received by any veterans' groups.

When Trump was pushed into a corner where he had to make a choice between actually giving the $1 million or forever stop bragging that he had already given to charity, Trump said, "You know, you’re a nasty guy. You’re really a nasty guy. I gave out millions of dollars that I had no obligation to do."

No obligation other than Trump had said many times that he had already done it, when he had not.

People have been subjected to the "dumbing down" effect across the country. Only in America, the country I love, has been flim-flammed. "We worship" a dumb family for

I used to blame the great unwashed too, but have since taken a more charitable position. It turns out that expecting them to suddenly rise up and learn a thing or 2 about ANYTHING (food, art, politics, great science fiction shows) is in itself, pretty damn stupid. The sample size is the whole of recorded human history - it proves that it hasn't and won't happen, so check - don't expect people to wise up. In fact, count on them not doing so!
To me, worse and quantifiably more responsible, are those that have enough intelligence to know better, but let emotion and an unrepentant egotism blind them into following a darker, more selfish path. "I know better than you!" Both parties are over flowing with these types. So I blame them first and foremost - they are the ones that have the power to control who gets shoved in our face to pick from. Just look at the 17 riders of the GOP Apocolypse. How can you blame simple people for only having them to choose from? 17 choices and no options.
Dems are only a little better.
Plus, there's the mechanics of choosing. I see where we're finally at a place where more than 50% of voters will likely cast their vote based on "anyone but the other person..." How is that not a total indictment of the whole election process? I look forward to watching John Oliver's take from last Sunday.

Either as a cause or an effect, I doubt that poor pay for teachers explains why some Americans have poor taste. And are easily conned.

Teaching Salary Data by State
State Starting Salary Average Salary
California $41,259 $69,324
Colorado $32,126 $49,844
Connecticut $42,924 $69,397
Delaware $39,338 $59,679

Interestingly enough, there is an editorial: Millions of ordinary Americans support Donald Trump. Here's why by Thomas Frank.
www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/mar/07/donald-trump-why-america
ns-support

Frank gives his explanation -- since Obama failed to fix everyone’s life, then the exact opposite of Obama will fix it. I can’t exactly see why the Republican party or Trump himself would expend the energy or money, once in the White House. What would motivate them, when the fix would not be to their advantage?

"His physical strength and stamina are extraordinary"

It's tradition for presidential candidates to release a note from their physician testifying to their fitness to fulfill the duties of the presidency. On December 14, Donald Trump submitted his entry to this quadrennial custom. It is, I think, one of the most revealing documents of the campaign.

The letter, supposedly written by Dr. Harold Bornstein of Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, is four paragraphs long and defies parody. Note that it mispelled “To Whom It May Concern”
Quote:

To Whom My Concern:

I have been the personal physician of Mr. Donald J. Trump since 1980. His previous physician was my father, Dr. Jacob Bornstein. Over the past 39 years, I am pleased to report that Mr. Trump has had no significant medical problems. Mr. Trump has had a recent complete medical examination that showed only positive results. Actually, his blood pressure, 110/65, and laboratory test results were astonishingly excellent.

Over the past twelve months, he has lost at least fifteen pounds. Mr. Trump takes 81 mg of aspirin daily and a low dose of a statin. His PSA test score is 0.15 (very low). His physical strength and stamina are extraordinary.

Mr. Trump has suffered no form of cancer, has never had a hip, knee or shoulder replacement or any other orthopedic surgery. His only surgery was an appendectomy at age ten. His cardiovascular status is excellent. He has no history of ever using alcohol or tobacco products.

If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.

This is from Trump's web site. Seriously. www.donaldjtrump.com/images/uploads/trump_health_record.pdf

This is ... not how most doctor notes read. "Reached for comment regarding this, a spokesperson at the American Medical Association just giggled," reported the Daily Beast.
www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/12/14/the-donald-s-trumped-up-medi
cal-report.html

The letter sounds as if it were written by Trump himself, and perhaps it was.

A good president needs to surround himself with people willing to stand up to him, people who aren't cowed by the trappings of the office. But Trump didn't even choose a personal physician unintimidated by the trappings of his wealth. A good president needs people around him who will say things that might make him angry. But Trump has managed to surround himself with people who will say the exact things he wants said, in the exact way he would say them.

One of the dangers of the presidency is that it's easy for anyone who controls nuclear weapons to insulate himself from hard truths and unpleasant critiques. But good decisions require difficult conversations. Presidents often have to hear things they don't want to hear — that an idea isn't good, that a strategy has become unworkable, that a policy doesn't add up, that a trusted subordinate is underperforming, that a strategy won't survive public or judicial scrutiny.

There are many positions where one might accept a pliable crony. But Trump's "personal physician" should not be one of them.

One of the standard parts of Donald Trump’s allure is his insistence that he’ll make sure that Apple will assemble their iPad and iPhone in the US rather than China. How many jobs could be moved to the USA and for how long before the jobs are obsolete? At Apple’s supplier in China, Foxconn, 60,000 factory workers were replaced with robots. One factory has "reduced employee strength from 110,000 to 50,000 thanks to the introduction of robots", a government official told the South China Morning Post.

Trump did not go into specifics (he never does) but he wants guaranteed-for-life jobs at Apple USA for employees starting at 18 and retiring at 67 years old. Good luck getting that law passed, President Trump. Good luck to the graduates of 2016 on their guaranteed 49 years of paid work at Apple USA for $15 per hour. Trump cares deeply for the wellbeing of high school graduates building iPhones by hand. Trump failed to say it, but robots will be outlawed at Apple assembly plants in the USA. Obviously, Apple might split into two companies to avoid Trump’s new robot/employment laws. One Apple might assemble and sell iPhones only in the USA and the other Apple serves the rest of the world. What will President Trump do to thwart evil Apple?

Are you confused, or is it because you shun the truth at every turn?

It's always been a little bit unclear to what extent anyone believes Hillary shot Vince Foster in the head as opposed to cynically peddling murder theories for partisan advantage. Trump is seeking partisan advantage because he is in a fight with Hillary. See how Trump might be a liar?

How Foster died is very clear. In the days before his death, Foster was having trouble eating or sleeping. He told his sister that he was suffering from depression but was afraid that seeing a psychiatrist would cost him his security clearance. His sister provided him with the names of two DC-area psychiatrists anyway, and urged him to see one "off the record" to alleviate his clearance concerns. He called one, but got an answering machine. He spoke to his doctor on the phone in Little Rock and got a prescription for antidepressants.

Then his body was found in a park with a bullet through his head and a gun in his hand.

The US Park Police had jurisdiction over the matter and concluded, in conjunction with the FBI, that it was a suicide. Later investigations by independent counsels Robert Fisk and Kenneth Starr concluded the same thing. When a depressed man is found dead in a park with no sign of a struggle and gun residue on his hand, the natural conclusion is suicide, and every subsequent piece of evidence confirmed that finding. Depression plus easy access to firearms lead to an avoidable death, as it all too often does in the United States.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

While I have no doubt about the sheer meanness of republicans, it wasn't Johnson and The Great Society that did democrats in. Not according to the time-line in the link which I'll repost http://www.people-press.org/interactives/party-id-trend/ .

Though democratic identification was trending more or less up starting at 1947 and 40%, Kennedy brought it up from 46% to 50%. And while it fell under Johnson to 42% by the end of his presidency, it may have also been due to the Vietnam War. Democratic identification rebounded during Nixon's terms to 44% and added another 2% during Ford's stay at the WH. It dropped during Carter's term to 41%, but rose in the early Reagan years to 44%.

While Kennedy peaked the numbers, 'd' identification ran at roughly 43% from 1950 until ...

... 1985 and into Reagan's second term.

So, first if all, let me point out that 'd' identification survived 20 years after Johnson's Great Society.

What happened to it, then?

I believe the US's good fortune to be the only developed economy left standing after WWII had run out of steam.

And that's where the charts in this link are relevant. http://www.russellsage.org/sites/all/files/chartbook/Income%20and%20Ea
rnings.pdf
. You'll see that income grew quickly for all levels of society until 1970. At that point it leveled off dramatically for most. And at that point, while family income continued to grow - though more slowly - it happened because while individual income stagnated, more women went to work. The years of better and better came to an end. The boundless optimism in the future that people previously had, died.

It's easy to extend the generous hand when you feel your own life is secure. But when it starts to become a zero-sum system, their gain is your loss; and suddenly, people become far less charitable.

I believe people had been feeling the pinch for quite a while. The good will of the liberal formula started to seem inappropriate for the times. And Reagan provided the mean, selfish, self-serving rationale for people to adopt, under the veneer of oldy times and shiny cities aways away somewhere.

And democrats - with their organizational ties and back-room deals and small-minded time-lines - failed to come up with an opposing muscular counter of optimism in the face of rough circumstances. And STILL haven't come up with one.

Which is why we have Hillary, where the only reason to vote for her corrupt, self-serving, greedy ass is that the opposition is worse on social issues.

Well fuck her and the disease-riddled donkey she's whipping to the finish line so she can pocket her gold.

Let me just point out that the author left out vital relevant facts in the opinion piece. Doing that is known as cherry-picking. And whether you do that in the news, in discussion, in debate or in opinion, when you distort the facts, you've changed the nature of your communication into propaganda. But WE don't have any of THAT in the US, do we?!

Well fuck [Hillary] and the disease-riddled donkey she's whipping to the finish line so she can pocket her gold.

I want to make this simple. Here's what Donald Trump did recently:

He pledged $1 million to help veterans.

He tried to weasel out of it for months by saying he already paid and hoped no one would notice he had not.

When he finally got caught, he insulted the reporter who caught him.

Even among sleazebags, this is not normal behavior. This is pathological sleaziness. It's literally beyond belief. Do not let Trump distract you with his latest barrage of insults. Do not turn your attention to Hillary. Do not let this be normalized away as "just another Trump thing."

Maybe we need to put this in simpler terms.

$1 million is one ten-thousandth of Trump's claimed wealth. The average American household has a net worth of about $50,000. One ten-thousandth of that is $5. In terms of its effect on his personal finances, what Trump did was the equivalent of promising five bucks to a homeless vet and then trying to weasel out of it. What kind of person would do that?

This deserves far more attention than it's gotten. If character is supposed to be important in our presidents, this is evidence of the most contemptible kind of character imaginable. He tried to cheat a bunch of veterans! Can we please not shrug our shoulders and let this fade away into talk of Hillary?

Need I mention that multi-billionaires can go insane? Houston's very own billionaire Howard Hughes for example. Trump is already going there. Eight years from now, President Trump could be hoarding bottles of his own urine like Hughes did. Or in Trump's case, his own hair.

Henry Louis Mencken said, “The men the American people admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest the most violently are those who try to tell them the truth. ... On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will get their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” Well, we shall see about that.

Drew Harwell: What became of that $3 million you said you raised for vets but you haven't given away yet?

Donald Trump: The money for the vets? I have given a lot of money to the vets. I gave a lot.

Drew Harwell: Who did you give it to?

Donald Trump: I'm the only one — a lot. I gave it to
some of the people that you saw on the list, and then the rest
we're giving it to ether groups, another veterans groups.

Drew Harwell: We don't have records of that $3 million that you said you'd raise for vets.

Donald Trump: Why should I give you records? I don't have to give you records. But I've given millions away. By the way, I've given millions of dollars away to the vets and I'm very honored by it and all because I said I'm not going to go into a debate. I raised millions of dollars and we gave it vets. So we've given a lot [cross-talking]. Wait, wait, wait.

Drew Harwell: You won't give one charity that you've given it to.

Donald Trump: No. Why should I tell you? Why would I want to do that?

Drew Harwell: Well, because we want to share the word of your good giving.

Donald Trump: Oh, you're not going to share it because you're going to put — anything I do, you'll put a negative spin. I've given millions of dollars away and you make it sound like it's a negative thing and not a positive thing.

Drew Harwell: Just tell us who. We can ask and then we can share that.

Donald Trump: You knew what? Because you're so nice. No, I'm not going to tell you. I'd rather just give it and just do it my own way. It's much, much nicer. I gave you like 20-some odd groups of people that we gave it to, veterans groups. We're giving more to other veterans groups, and we've already given more.
https://twitter.com/Fahrenthold/status/735140874041085953/photo/1

How can anyone put a negative spin on raising money for Vets? Raising and giving away millions? Except Trump didn't. He just lied and said he did. That is, in fact, a Bad Thing.

Jayne (or Adam Baldwin) tweeted today that ‘Real Women’ Like Trump
https://twitter.com/AdamBaldwin

Rush Limbaugh declared today that “real women” like Donald Trump, and in case you’re wondering, yes, he did define exactly what constitutes a “real woman”:

“Not left-wing activist Feminazi-type women, you know the type of women I’m talking about. The girl next door, the businesswoman, the woman that’s confident, the woman that likes herself––those are the kind of women we’re talking about here. Wholesome American woman.”

Limbaugh made it clear he’s “not talking about women that are angry, that feel like they’re victims of something, that think men are the biggest obstacles they face on earth.”

He went on to declare that these “real women” like Trump because “he’s not PC-whipped” and “he stands up for himself.”

Because, Limbaugh concluded, “no real woman respects any man who can be so easily PC-whipped… and whatever else that you might say about Trump, that is something that he isn’t.”

It’s funny for Rush to be calling women Nazis. How is Rush Limbaugh like the Hindenburg? Both are flaming Nazi gasbags.

I checked: Rush has been divorced. Then divorced. Then divorced again. I think real women who know him don't love him. After his next divorce, he should marry a real man. Trump is overdue for another divorce. Limbaugh could change his name to Limbaugh-Trump or just plain Trump.

Trump retaliated by withdrawing the medical benefits critical to his nephew’s infant child
www.nytimes.com/2016/01/03/us/politics/for-donald-trump-lessons-from-a
-brothers-suffering.html

Then came the unveiling of Fred Sr.’s will, which Donald had helped draft. It divided the bulk of the inheritance, at least $20 million, among his children and their descendants, “other than my son Fred C. Trump Jr.”

Freddy’s children sued, claiming that an earlier version of the will had entitled them to their father’s share of the estate, but that Donald and his siblings had used “undue influence” over their grandfather, who had dementia, to cut them out.

A week later, Mr. Trump retaliated by withdrawing the medical benefits critical to his nephew’s infant child.

“I was angry because they sued,” he explained during last week’s interview.

At the time, he attributed their exclusion from the will to his father’s “tremendous dislike” for Freddy’s ex-wife, Linda. She and Fred III declined to comment on the dispute.

Mr. Trump said that the litigation had been settled “very amicably” and that he was fond of Fred III, who works in real estate, though not for the Trump organization. He also said that, at 69, he had grown to appreciate his brother’s free spirit.

“He would have been an amazing peacemaker if he didn’t have the problem, because everybody loved him,” he said. “He’s like the opposite of me.”

With Drumpf everything's for sale........didn't you hear? Only rich people are consider successful.

Anyway, back to the topic.....what was it again, oh yeah, the fucking idiot who's running for office and hasn't a clue as to what is required.

1- If he had any clue as to what to do with ISIS, don't you think he would score brownie points if he went to the Pentagon and share his "secrets" so as to defeat ISIS and bring our military home for good. Of course, liberals can't really think for themselves (according to some here). In the words of my favorite cartoon character, Bugs Bunny, "What a maroon!"

If the price is right, he'll share.

2- Economic recovery!? Well, Drumpf should know more about that than I ever could.
After all, he did file for bankruptcy 3 or 4 times. He must be doing something right, because every time he owes money from borrowing and not paying it back,
well that's the epitome of economic recovery, No!? Only one thing, he's the only
one to recover. Think about that!

The Drumpf Empire is a house of cards.

Cranky today, aren't you? Look what Trump has to offer. Do I need to mention that Trump has a secret plan to defeat ISIS? He can't share it right now. You'll have to wait until after he is elected. If you don't elect him, he won't be able to let the Pentagon know any of his carefully worked out details.
