Let's not forget that the Iraq war was pushed by Bush administration insiders with clear ties to Israel's right-wing Likud Party. According to an Israeli website The main substantive ideas in this paper emerge from a discussion in which prominent opinion makers, including Richard Perle, James Colbert, Charles Fairbanks, Jr., Douglas Feith, Robert Loewenberg, David Wurmser, and Meyrav Wurmser.

www.israeleconomy.org/strat1.htm

The architects of that disaster have quietly slipped away... leaving the faithful holding the bag... but they included Feith, Perle, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Bolton, Abrams and Libby.

Then there were Dems whose hearts just naturally turned to Israel: Lieberman, who once referred to Israel as "we"; and Feinstein, who has been carrying Cheney's water for years. (Don't confuse Feinstein with Feingold. Feingold is, if anything, even more principled than Ron Paul.)

Now it seems that the Israel lobby turned remaining politicians the good ol-fashioned way: with filthy lucre!
Quote:

Rep. Jane Harman , the California Democrat with a longtime involvement in intelligence issues, was overheard on an NSA wiretap telling a suspected Israeli agent that she would lobby the Justice Department to reduce espionage-related charges against two officials of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, the most powerful pro-Israel organization in Washington. Harman was recorded saying she would “waddle into” the AIPAC case “if you think it’ll make a difference,” according to two former senior national security officials familiar with the NSA transcript. In exchange for Harman’s help, the sources said, the suspected Israeli agent pledged to help lobby Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., then-House minority leader, to appoint Harman chair of the Intelligence Committee after the 2006 elections which the Democrats were heavily favored to win.

Seemingly wary of what she had just agreed to, according to an official who read the NSA transcript, Harman hung up after saying, “This conversation doesn’t exist

Where does the money come in?
Quote:

Harman had to believe that if the Israeli government tells AIPAC to do something, AIPAC is very likely to do it, without asking for much explanation. And second, she had to believe that if AIPAC tells Nancy Pelosi to do something, Nancy Pelosi is very likely to do it, without asking for much explanation. In this case, the mechanism was allegedly that media mogul Haim Saban would threaten to withhold campaign contributions to Pelosi.

Think this one's going to grow in size and scope, and possibly be Pelosi's undoing? Or is that just wishful thinking?

ETA: Sorry, W&W, but Pelosi doesn't have testicles, in any sense of the imagination!

About 80% of politicians should be turned out of office (Pelosi included) and about 15% should be tried for treason.

IMHO.

I can't understand why we allow a known intelligence front of a country I consider hostile to us, to not only operate here on US soil, but engage in political lobbying of any type.

Foreign-money contributions as a rule should be outright illegal in our political process, and given their conduct and proven history of espionage, AIPAC should be packed up lock, stock and barrel, then unceremoniously deported.

And it severely pisses me off that much of the political slush money AIPAC throws around is in fact US Tax Dollars we give the damn Izzies in the first place - they bribe US politicians with the money, then bend them for more foreign aid, which goes into more bribes ?

Fuck em, cut em off, especially since they've pulled enough shit (AMDOCS, COMVERSE, ZONEALARM, Art Students, Urban Moving Systems, Ecstacy Trade) that if *any other country* had done, we would be at war with.

With "friends" like these....

Sad thing about it is that for all the anti-semitic screamin folks might throw my way over that, most jewish folk today don't like them likud bastards any more than most americans like the freakin neo-cons.

What kind of an idiot bankrolls the very sabotage and espionage against them ?

Congress.

Do the 15% make up part of the 80%, or do you mean 80% AND another 15%? Not that it makes much difference, really, 'cause either way it sounds about right.
