Now the question will finally be answered for us.

What is worse? A long-time position held by a Democrat over a city that continues to decline into poverty or a Socialist.

My expectations actually are that it couldn't possibly get any worse than it was under 16 years of Byron Brown.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Yeah, Buffalo was one of those rust belt cities that never recovered from the collapse of American manufacturing. Altho, I have to say, it's declined a lot more gently than Detroit. Maybe because it has a major state university bringing in money.

I know that Buffalo has been looking for manufacturing (mostly high tech) to replace the old steel mills and auto manufacturing. Did you know that Tesla manufactures solar panels in Buffalo? (Prolly bc of the cheap hydropower from Niagara Falls.) And they've turned the former site of Bethlehem steel into breakbulk port, a windfarm, some light manufacturing, and the completion of a trail that runs from Lake Ontario to PA border. All very nice, but not enuf to sustain an economy.

IMHO Pittsburgh has been more successful in replacing its steel town economy than Buffalo with high tech and university money. But, like I said, there's only so much of that to go around. It's not a paradigm for every city gutted by lost manufacturing.
