Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Once it started to fall, it didn't take more than a couple of decades for the Roman Empire to collapse as an entity.

SECOND is a troll because it constantly misrepresents what people post, fails to address their actual positions, and resorts to personal attacks when its brain isn't working (which is most of the time).

What I thought was interesting is that there were large, long-lasting empires (or cultures/ peoples) that I never even heard of.

The Seleucid Empire?? What was THAT all about??

If the link doesn't work just go to Youtube and search for history of peoples 400 bc. It will pop right up.

As long as you insist that everything is the Republicans'/ Democrats' fault, then you fail to grasp the REAL problem with American politics.

A shadow of Alexander the Great doesn't really grab headlines today, but certainly for those people that 250 year stretch was known.

I can't see it, but I expect the invention of hay (circa 500-800 AD) to be a force of geographical population shift.

See the Hay Theory of History.
