Yesterday marked the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Sykes-Picot Agreement, which divided up the modern Middle East between Britain and France, following the anticipated defeat of the Ottoman Empire.

16 May, 1916.

In 1918 the Ottoman Empire fell, during WWI, or THE World War, or The War To End All Wars.
