Love this song. It plays all the time at work too, but never looked it up. It was just a cool song to work to while I did my thing.

Now that I'm listening to it a few times on YouTube with headphones, I think it's the best new song I've heard since I was a huge fan of Fun's We are Young 8 months after everyone else heard it first.

This is an amazing song. This is seriously Tom Petty Level shit to me....

EDITED TO ADD: Look up "OneRepublic's" "Counting Stars" on youtube if the link doesn't work.

You'll thank me later. ;)

MIKER

Once I found Serenity

Good song. It manages to have a club quality boom, boom, but breaks from disco. This will make it a hit in the club seen because you can dance to it, and it has an edginess to it as well.

I know, right....

You didn't like the other music, but I'd like to think that picking out a few gems without any media influence is a strong point of mine.

I've heard this song at work for over a month now, and loved it every time it came on, although except for some repeatable Chorus lyrics I didn't know anything about this song.

The funny thing is that I didn't look it up tonight. I was listening to "Lights" by Ellie again and I must have been on a playlist since this song played after it stopped.

Love those accidental magic moments. OneRepublic might have completely skipped my radar if not for happenstance.

Glad you like the song Miker. Take a few minutes to actually listen to the words instead of just hearing the awesome beat.

You'll thank me later ;)

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I didn't want this thread to fade away to obscurity without Miker or somebody else listening to it and hearing it.

Here's the lyrics, and I checked them 3 times and believe them to be 100% correct.

Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars
Yeah, we'll be counting stars

[Verse 1]
I see this life
Like a swinging vine
Swing my heart across the line
In my face is flashing signs
Seek it out and ye shall find

Old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
And I don't think the world is sold
I'm just doing what we're told

I feel something so right
By doing the wrong thing
And I feel something so wrong
By doing the right thing
I couldn't lie, couldn't lie, couldn't lie
Everything that kills me makes me feel alive

[Chorus:]
Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars

Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be, we'll be counting stars

[Verse 2:]
I feel the love
And I feel it burn
Down this river every turn
Hope is our four letter word
Make that money
Watch it burn

Old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
And I don't think the world is sold
I'm just doing what we're told

And I feel something so wrong
By doing the right thing
I couldn't lie, couldn't lie, couldn't lie
Everything that drowns me makes me wanna fly

[Chorus:]
Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars

Lately I been, I been losing sleep (hey!)
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I been, I been prayin' hard (hey!)
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be, we'll be counting stars

Oh, oh, oh.

[Bridge 4x:]
Take that money
Watch it burn
Sink in the river
The lessons I learned

Everything that kills me makes me feel alive

[Chorus:]
Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
Baby, I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars

Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be, we'll be counting stars

[Outro 4x:]
Take that money
Watch it burn
Sink in the river
The lessons I learned

One of the most pessimistically upbeat songs I've ever heard.

It's not negative or nihilistic at all.

The words, to me, recognize how hard life is and is about a climb to a life where a man and woman (and possibly their current or theoretical kids) could have enough where they can get by without having to worry about feeding everyone and even though temptation is around every turn, the love of the family keeps them doing right.

All of that to a danceable beat and some great singing.

One of my favorite songs in a while.

Sing Along :)

Do Right, Be Right. :)

WHOZIT

"An error occured, please try agian later", what a strange name for a song. Must be a country song.

Hehe...... I wouldn't blame you for feeling that way whozit.....

I have a lot of fun imagining I was singing this karaoke with hundreds of people watching it like back in the day. I was karaoke king with my circle.

Maybe I'm still old and sad, but this song is young and new and badass....

Ain't no tattoed brother I work with going to tell me it isn't :)

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Maybe this will work ... drat - blocked

OONJERAH - We are too dumb to live and smart enough to wipe ourselves out.
"You, who live in any kind of comfort or convenience, do not know how these people can survive these things, do you? They will endure because there is no immediate escape from endurance. Some will die, the rest must live."

I hear it as a song about how they've tried to drown meaning out of our lives by trying oh so hard to turn us into nothing but droid workers and droid consumers.

I won't argue you that....

I don't care these days much about what regular humans talk about.

If I didn't have a niece I loved, and a challenged brother, chances are we would have never met.

Eternally, love them or not, they are chains upon my waist because I'm one of otherwise none who would blah blah blah....

I envy your life to ignore this because "A" you are privileged and don't care or you are "B" privileged and don't care....

To anyone else......

And with all due Respect....

EDITED TO ADD:

Much more happy to watch when Real Life Disney Princesses are singing it....

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Alright Miker... got a song I know you can't refuse....

Anna Nalick's "2 AM (Breathe)"

Never going to confuse this song with Disco, for sure.

I downloaded Anna's entire disc and later bought it in a store. Rarely have I ever heard an album that I really enjoyed all the way through outside of Anna's first album.

I really need to get EG's album.
