So I've been arguing about the validity of AGW on a right-wing blog that I troll, and using this excellent resource http://www.skepticalscience.com/ to answer them. It's wonderful, it feels like cheating. Anyway one of the righties asserted that global temperature is NOT in fact going up, pointing to the fact that temperature has actually gone down slightly if you measure from 1998 (a year when temperatures spiked due to a strong El Nino). So imagine my joy when I found this peach of a graph - 'How "skeptics" view global warming' compared to 'How realists view global warming':

That's sure an "owwie"...but of course the righties here will come back with something nonsensical (or offensive) to refute it. Pretty sad that the whole rest of the world has come to accept global warming as a fact and is TAKING STEPS to try and deal with it, and there sits America, "greatest nation on earth", still trying to decide whether they believe it or not!

It's just mean global temperatures year on year, with several blue lines drawn to show the planet 'cooling'; and a single red line to show the planet heating up.

It shows how you can lie with statistics, and the need to look at the big picture.

Yeah, the blue line shows how skeptics "prove" it's cooling, and the red line to show how "realists" recognize that over a long period of time, it's heating up.

Sorry--I never take Whatzit seriously, it's just not possible, given the idiocy he posts.

As to how I did it, right-clicked and selected "save picture as" saved it to my computer, went into Animation Shop, pulled it up, resized it, saved it, went to Photoshop and uploaded it, and copied and pasted the URL. There are easier ways, I know, I'm just so used to this that it's fastest for me. Someone mentioned an on-line resizing site or something once, but I never bothered. You're welcome.
