Sarah Palin emails: Teleprompter and pre-prepared questions needed for live (fake pre-recorded) TV "interview"

Mrs Palin has often criticised President Barack Obama for his reliance on teleprompters, but in 2007 it appears she had answers to pre-supplied questions placed in one of the same devices.

Meg Stapleton, then her communications director, wrote in a message to several members of staff: "Energy TV would like an interview with the Governor and I thought this Wednesday might work - the questions are below.

"What we need to do is simply book the Governor’s time, provide the answers to the questions below, use the prompter and have her look to the side and answer the questions for use by the TV station.

I just need help on the answers. It needs to be very conversationally written.

"Needs to be on 3:30pm Governor’s feed Wednesday - could record according to Governor ’s schedule on Wednesday morning and would need answers by tomorrow. Possible?"

When the governor responded that she already had an engagement for the time scheduled for the interviewer, Ms Stapleton wrote: "We’re working around that. Joe Balash is crafting the answers right now, Sharon will ask the questions, we will have the answers in a teleprompter, and then send those answers over the satellite tomorrow afternoon. It shouldn’t take long , once we have the answers. Expect them tonight.”

Mrs Palin replied: “You’re awesome. You’re all awesome. Whataday...”

She has also been a fierce critic of Mr Obama’s energy policy.

Recently she said: “His naive and destructive and terrifying anti-oil agenda is going to bring our nation to our knees and his agenda must be stopped.”

But in August 2008, shortly before she was plucked from obscurity by Mr McCain, her tune was very different.

She warmly praised a speech that then candidate Obama gave on energy policy.

"He gave a great speech this morn in Michigan - mentioned Alaska. Stole our Energy Rebate $1000 check idea, stole our TC-Alaska gasoline talking points, etc.”

Palin was clearly at times overwhelmed by her schedule.
In an email on July 28, 2008 she asked staff to remind her to pick up her mother from the airport in Juneau, the Alaskan capital.
