A fine quote in defense of the legal profession.

In the scene they are discussing all they shall do for the people. Eliminate money, property, dress everyone the same, and all at the mercy and whim of Cade, a would be king and tyrant.

Naturally the first thought was the elimination of all the lawyers because they stand at the forefront of the educated class, a class they mean to eliminate as a prelude to eliminating reading and writing and other forms of education, which they considered a hinderence and distraction from worship of the sovereign.

In other words, for tyranny to prevail, first elminate the lawyers.

King Henry hearing the news of the approach of the rebel army:

Later John Cade, the tyrant:
" Away, burn all the records of the realm: my mouth shall be the parliament of England." He then abolishes private property (or more accurately, claims everything for himself), demands tribute from all, claims all women first to him. He goes on but thankfully is ultimately defeated and killed.
