On Friday, Democrats moved one step closer to giving free health insurance to the nation’s estimated 12 million illegal aliens when they successfully defeated a Republican-backed amendment, offered by Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., that would have prevented illegal aliens from receiving government-subsidized health care under the proposed plan backed by House Democrats and President Barack Obama.

The House Ways and Means Committee nixed the Heller amendment by a 26-to-15 vote along straight party lines, and followed this action by passing the 1,018-page bill early Friday morning by a 23-to-18 margin, with three Democrats voting against the plan.

Hussein Obama and Demorats in Congress welcome 100-million new illegal aliens ASAP.

And how are we gonna pay for their med insurance? By charging taxes on soda of course!

Oh, and cut back on a few Raptors too. But then, I remember, since the politicians aren't going to participate in government med insurance, then they'll be plenty enough for all citizens, legal or otherwise. Your tax dollars at work!!

Freaking SWEET! Hey, I'm all for it - after all, I don't remember many of you complaining that it was "unfair" when it was my tobacco and booze that was being taxed through the roof. Gluttony is supposed to be a sin, too. Remember?

So tax the shit out of those useless sodas. Then let's do the same with the Big Mac!

And let's triple the gas-guzzler tax on big luxury cars.

Don't mention any way to "incentivize" insurance companies to cover the "uninsurable" due to pre-existing conditions or chronic illnesses, of whom there are many. In fact, ignore them. They're not much concern at the ballot box.

Finally, Gregg's masterstroke: Don't mention that 'high deductible' means insurance which will refuse payment on needed care unless the holder can pay a lump sum to initiate treatment, usually $5,000 - $30,000, or more, which of course is Absolutely No Good to someone who cannot afford decent insurance in the first place. (At which point, many Republicans would suggest "health savings accounts" to fill in the gap, which is also no help to the poor.)

This will "work" like traffic tickets and criminal prosecutions, by cheating defendants out of their Homestead Exemptions which currently allows 50% of Americans to avoid payment of all fines and court costs. Even Raising The Bar on TV this week censored the words "Homestead Exemption" in a defendant's hearing on affidavit of indigency, which prevents a judge from including personal items from calculation of their assets. Florida allows "indigent" people to own $10-million homes free and clear via Homestead Exemption.
