Problem with that comes from our two-tier society, see if one of us 'peons' attacks one of them 'lords' NO MATTER HOW RIGHT YOU ARE - they can still shoot you, and get naught more than a few weeks of paid leave as "punishment".

And if they don't shoot you, you're going to jail - now, you might get out, jobless, with creditors up your ass, $75,000.00 in legal bills, and all the other bills which've racked up and gone into default at the time, plus a criminal record you now have to fight to get expunged whether you were exonerated or not, with no resources to do it.

And of course, if you happen to do for one of them even in pure self defense, might as well just cut your own throat on the spot and save the trouble.

That said, I'd probably have done so...
I'd say because I tend to be both lucky and well prepared for possible retribution, but I'd be lyin, truth of it is my natural chivalry and temper would engage in concerted blind fury.
