GEEZER

Keep the Shiny side up

Living here in Northern Virginia, I get the triple whammy of not only political ads for the Virginia US Senate race on TV, but also the Maryland US Senate and Governor's races. Shortly, I expect the House candidates' ads in both states to move from radio and direct mail to TV also.

The current set of negative attack ads by both sides has re-confirmed my desire for a "None of the Above" button on the voting machines. I don't think any of these folks running deserve to be elected. I say chuck 'em all out and start again with a clean slate. If I didn't have to go and try to vote down the "Marriage Amendment", I'd be tempted to just stay home.

Maybe I'll write in "None of the Above", just to express my opinion. Anybody with me?

HARDWARE

Just thank your lucky stars you don't live in Northern Delaware. We get political ads from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and our own political oxygen thieves.

I can't think of a single incumbent who deserves re-election. I'm for voting all of them out.

The more I get to know people the more I like my dogs.

CALLMEATH

I live in the same area, Geezer, and know how you feel. "None of the above" sounds much better than the actual candidates. I'll be voting against that ridiculous amendment, too, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna pass. This is Virginia we're talking about.

Absolutely. You're to be commended for going to the polls to vote on a referendum, btw.

I see you're local Allen vs. Webb is a loser-all. I have a couple such races here. I'm thinking of going and voting libertarian to shake things up, just to jar that 'disenfranchised vote' I'll probably vote republican on senate and governor, but i'll probably lose on both. The congressional candidates though have been so amazingly negative I can't vote for them. The entire campaign has been "my opponent eats puppies" "oh, well my opponent eats human children." "oh yeah? my opponent ate his own kids" "oh yeah? my opponent ate your kids" etc. all over really minor things, not even a real willy horton in the bunch or any kind of genuine skeleton in the closet. It's just sickening the level of debate. And never once a "If elected, I will do this" - well, if they won't tell me what they will do if elected, then I'm sure not going to vote for them. No one should be allowed to ride into office on a blank platform.
