I have no doubt that when I die it will be awesomely "selfish" and harmless to other people, but the existence of my niece has just prolonged my longevity by at least 5 or 10 years....

I've been in the RWED for 15 going on 20 years now....

My niece is nearly 18 months old now and it seems like just yesterday she was a newborn.

You can't look away from her for 5 seconds without her picking up a deadly weapon and waving it around like Jason if there was one lying about.

I have no doubt that I will die by my own hand some day.

My niece is my extended lease on life.

I'll be damned if she gets knocked up by some cute guy in HS who ends up a deadbeat dad or doesn't follow her dreams of changing the world in some awesome fashion.

I'm always here for you Elise, until the day you no longer need me.

I love you more than anything and anyone I've ever even contemplated loving before you were a part of my life.

I hope your parents do what our Parents could never do....

Just to add...

I was seeing this woman who was essentially cheating on her "common law" man with me, although we never actually did more than watch some movies and fool around occasionally at my place last year.

She was looking for a Knight in Shining Armor, and I was looking for some companionship. She was the Sister I never had. As hard as she tried, I couldn't "seal the deal", because it felt wrong since she had a family, even though it was uber fucked up. As much as she tried to introduce me to her two sons, I wouldn't allow it.

I was completely happy and content keeping it at that "not-having-sex-but-completely-into-each-other" stage, but she wanted to take it to the next level and she fucked it all up.

When she figured out I wasn't going to do that with all the "baggage" she already had, she reverted back to her juvenile loser of a "husband" that makes minimum wage and will never be capable of doing anything more than that. When her ex who is the Father of her oldest son married and wanted to take her oldest away, I didn't kiss her ass and have her back. Her kid was living a fucked up life and I didn't sugar coat it, and now we don't talk anymore because of it.

He was 8 years old, and reads kids books like a retarded 5 year old.

It's not entirely her fault. She loves her kids and she does try. The school system her kids are in is complete bullshit compared to what I grew up in.

What IS her fault is the losers she surrounds herself with. Not only her loser live-in-minimum-wage-mcdonalds husband, but her "sisters" which are two loser friends she grew up with that have 6 kids between them and 2 boyfriends that are currently in jail. Believe it or not, her "husband" is the BEST man out of all 8 kids in the picture....

Any woman who could tame me would be lucky to have me, and our brilliant kids would grow up to help reshape the world into something self-sustaining.

I'm curious.

I was lucky in terms of when and where I was born. Both parents worked and we didn't have extras, but they paid off the house early and so the household was secure. I lived in the 'burbs and went to an OK high school.

When I went to college I worked my way through and went to a state school, but tuition was only $600 a semester ($2800 in today's dollars) and got my degree with no debt. And though the pay was low, I was able to land a full-time job in my field (technical/ medical) immediately, which I was able to parlay into a much better job later.

Then I got some family help, and bought a house with quite a lot down, and by living cheaply were able to pay it off.

I suspect circumstances are not nearly as propitious for people going through those stages of life - school/ job/ home - right now. What are young people doing nowadays? And - how much of their money is going to non-essentials? (electronics, clothes, entertainment etc?)

This girl I spoke of was one of the girls who got more money "back" after April 15th than I made all year working as a single man with no kids. Seriously.... Speaking with the woman I talked about one night on speaker while her kid "read" a book to her was terrifying to me. Not only was he seriously deficient for his age, but she was proud of his ability. He isn't retarded or in anyway lacking in intelligence. He just reads like he's 2 years old.

THIS IS AMERICA NOW. PERIOD.

Meanwhile... The kid in India his age already knows how to speak Hindi and English and Chinese and will likely see school through to a meaningful Masters Degree that would make our Masters degrees curl up between our legs like a scared doggy.

People here hate me for the most part, but I tell it like it is.

I just speak about a trend.

Was I white, working with only white minimum-wagers back in 1996? Sure...

We were only making $5.25 an hour back then, but that bought nearly 7 gallons of gas......

Minimum wage, depending on the price of gas for the day, buys you only about 2 gallons or less.....

Customer Service anywhere sucks.

9 out of 10 people I work with don't even know basic commonality. I work with a bunch of fucking rude cavemen and women that never were taught any "rules" about being polite.

Why would anyone drive to a store to be treated like that when they can pay less to have something shipped half-way around the world to them?

Even without my guns in my house, and my close proximity to Gary, IN, I have no worries with my associations.

I leave my house for weekend retreats to a better time in a different state from time to time.

If people weren't scared enough of my huge, non-tattoed frame while I mow my lawn, I'm friends with quite a few people from local tatto shops.

I also have video cameras everywhere that I can watch online while I'm out of state.

I think the horns would have been OK if they hadn't turned it into tacky lounge music. I think the lyrics are OK - they tell a story. But the version I like best was done in the studio; i like it b/c of the tightly synchronized and syncopated guitars near the end. I've heard the Eagles version 'live' in concert, and - I've noticed this with a lot of studio versus live recordings - the studio versions are technically far superior.

My more favorite is a Don Henley song not an Eagles song:
