Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Oooh yeah!

Yeah, I know that.

I've tried logic. I've tried emotional. I dunno if it'll work, but next time I'll see if sticking my head up my ass sounds like a familiar language to them

SAGAN: We are releasing vast quantities of carbon dioxide, increasing the greenhouse effect. It may not take much to destabilize the Earth's climate, to convert this heaven, our only home in the cosmos, into a kind of hell.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

I asked the doctor if he'd ever been in a state of shock and he said no. I said I have been experiencing the sensations of it this morning for THREE HOURS. He just shrugged.

I got some different meds from him and that was about it. Have decided to write Mayo Clinic and see how much the genetic test is. I'm done with these idiots.

Good idea.

Doctors are taught "When you hear hoofbeats, thinks horses not zebras", and that works GREAT! .... 90% of the time.

However.

Zebras exist.

I may have mentioned it before, but I recall rather plainly our daughter's ped neuro walking me though her differential diagnosis. She had a list of six or seven things, I don't recall all of them, but she went thru them one by like, like this...

It could be atypical migraines, but it doesn't look like that. (cross off)
It could be Lennox Gastaut, but it doesn't look like that. (cross off)
It could be infantile spasms, but it doesn't look like that. (cross off)
It could be ______, but that's too rare. (cross off)

Well, the thing that she crossed off because it was "too rare" was exactly what it was.

In order to bird-dog something rare, you need a TRULY caring doctor .... one who is willing to go back to the books and do some learning (and good luck on finding one of those!) .... or you need a university-affiliated medical center which specializes in rare diseases and syndromes, where doctors LOOK for zebras because then they can write a paper!

And, when you finally hook up with such a center - what KIKI said.

Wish - I'm going to say it again - good luck.

FWIW I've known - and been one of - a number of people who've been through the whole 'weird disregulation' process. I don't think ours is the same as yours, or even that of all the people I know who've been through that have the same as the other --- I just have this idea that there's something in the environment that's pushing us all into abnormal territory.

My gawd, I DID say it. Wasn't sure I had. Oh, the irony.
