I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

In 1962, Rachel Carson's book "Silent Spring" jolted Americans awake about the dangers of persistent pesticides like DDT. Not only did people become aware of pesticides, they became aware of the entire spectrum of pollution ... in 1969, when the Cuyahoga River actually caught in fire several times, setting railroad trestles ablaze.

Here, the ironic image of firefighters pouring water on ... a river

An environmental movement was born.

The equivalent may have just happened in China. A documentary about Chinese air pollution, funded and narrated by a former TV anchor, was watched by 30 million viewers in its first day

Zerohedge had this to say
Quote:

[T]his weekend saw an even more massively viral social media phenomenon as tens of millions of Chinese watched, gripped and outraged, a 104-minute video entitled "Under The Dome" exposing the ugly truth about Chinese air pollution. What is perhaps most stunning - aside from the fact that something so 'important' can go viral without Kim Kardashian's ass all over it - is that the Chinese government, so far, has not shut off the documentary, and recently appointed minister of environmental protection, Chen Jining, even praised the video; suggesting a growing conflict between Beijing and the Chinese industrial complex.

Also, they have linked the video. The English subtitles are awkward and full of misspellings, and they end after just a few minutes into the video, but what I saw was very interesting and begins with a sad and personal story from the anchor. I hope a more complete version will be available soon.
