She could do the theme music for the next Star Trek series all by herself. She obviously has a great set of lungs.

Seriously, that's straight out of something from The 5th Element, only I don't think the Diva was that talented.

Plava Laguna .... Poor girl, a victim of the Islamic interstellar jihad. She came out covered in a burka, and she had stones inside her stomach.

I just watched the one video I posted, and have yet to follow up on other vids.

Basically, she doesn't " sing " in this video, but show cases her talent with various examples of different things she can do vocally. It seems to be more about using one's vocal chords and throat as an instrument, instead of actually singing a song.

I find it interesting.

Yeah, at first it just sounds like annoying humming, but once you hear how intricate and controlled the sounds she can produce, just with her voice, it really is something. I almost suspect it's some sort of audio con, some trick being played on us to see how many get duped. I mean, it DOES seem 'otherworldly' , hence my 5th Element reference, and yeah, I can see how someone would think it some sort of witchcraft.

Just noticed that was the top featured video on Yahoo Canada's home page.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

It remember accidentally doing it when I was younger. It's interesting, but not outside of the laws of physics. It gives rise to questions about musical scales - as well as her own abilities. Can she not change fundamentals (the notes in the music) and overtones simultaneously? Is there a scale where every note is a harmonic of a fundamental?

That's basically Throat Singing, that is hundreds, if not thousands, of years old.
She's actually quite good.

Yeah, I read where it's from Tibetan monks or some such. I just appreciate the focus and training that must go into doing it, and doing it so well like she does it. Making something like that look so simple takes something.

You're the second person that I've heard mention throat singing. From the steppes of Mongolia?

Yes, I think it's the same. Although in a different register, there are times when she makes the same whistle-sound too. You can hear it at 1:20, 1:40, 2:04-2:18 and 2:53-3:00.

THANKS!
