Wow, yesterday we went to see the first nuculer sub that went under the North Pole! Now a museum in Connecticut, it was active from 1954 to 1979. My Son & I climbed around in it for half an hour, it was so Ice Station Zebra! My cheap camera did not do this awesome historical ship justice...

Then we had lunch at Mystic Pizza. MMMMmmmm, so good.
But... Julia Roberts was not working there...

Going inside the Nautilus must have been awesome. I got hooked on subs back when Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea was on tv. Fort Lauderdale has "fleet week" every year, and I've been on an aircraft carrier and a destroyer, but never a submarine.

Mystic Seaport is a great place. Did you by chance see Julia Roberts or Annabeth Gish in the pizza place? I saw the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides) there many years ago. Touring New England that Summer was one of the best driving vacations we ever had.

America loves a winner!

Cool pix. No way could I have been in the bottom bunk. Seriously, where are the big people beds ? Those are obviously made for Hobbits.

in early days, submariners were not allowed to be large - tall or wide. Also no bedwetters.
They was discriminatory and intolerant.

I dunno, there was a LOT more room in there than I expected. In movies, I expected sets to be bigger than in real life, but I'm six feet tall, and even the protective ceiling they installed to keep folks from touching the overhead valves & stuff was a good two inches above me.
