This is the point I was making last week. I COULD let someone I love go to Goa with a suitcase full of bikinis, and say "Right ON, sister, you prove that you should wear whatever you want to wear. Go ahead, drink, party down, and make sure you do it half naked because you have the right to"

OR

I should expect that this person should recognize the danger in going to this place now and that she should wear clothes that don't attract attention and possibly hire an armed guard or twelve and have some personal knowledge of self defense.

BECAUSE

The problem lies in the fact that the authorities are never going to say outright "Our men are pigs, please stay away girls" because they don't want to get FIRED. And they totally would. So they have to say SOMETHING, so they say "Girls, if you come, this is what you should do to protect yourselves" because it's ALL THEY CAN DO.

It ain't right. But it's what IS. Bitching about what's right and wrong isn't going to protect your loved one. Bitching about the men in Goa being totally lacking in self-control isn't going to stop them. Looking to yourself is the only thing that matters here...
