Former Tea Party Leader Ridicules GOP Candidates For Saying ‘Stupid Things’ During Campaign

Dick Armey, former House Majority Leader and Tea Party supporter, slammed GOP candidates and their leadership for the loss of Republican campaigns across the country. Armey told CBS This Morning that more than one Republican candidiate “said some stupid things” that cost them the election.

After leaving the House, Armey ran FreedomWorks, an organization which helped the Tea Party movement grow. This election season, FreedomWorks spent $40 million to elect Tea Party candidates, but only one out of every four candidates they endorsed won. Armey was asked whether the Tea Party was slowly weakening, but vehemently denied this, saying instead that the GOP itself was to blame.
