I am gonna miss that guy - only recently did I aquire the entirety of The Culture series, only to find that the author was on the brink already, sad thing cause I woulda liked to have met him.

I did hear one story that cracked me up though, apparently one of his publishers who did the foreign language translations of some of his books decided to slip advertisements into the books, and when presented with evidence of this at a convention, Iain tore out the offending page...
