A man killed himself this morning by setting himself on fire, police said.

The fire was reported around 11 a.m. at 1401 Craig Road off Northshore Drive, Knoxville Fire Department Capt. D.J Corcoran said.

A woman called E-911 and told dispatchers her husband had caught himself on fire with gasoline, Corcoran said.

The family had received "bad news" about finances in the past few days, Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk said.

The man walked to the garage, carried a gasoline can into the front yard and set himself on fire, DeBusk said.

The man's name wasn't immediately available.
