Not to defend some of the things Mel has said and done, but Ezterhas (sp?) has been known as a crazy asshole in Hollywood far longer than Mel. And as Mel noted in his response, he didn't seem to have a problem with Mel until the studio passed on the script (thus cutting his payday).

IMHO, Mel should get the hell over himself and go back to being the
Road Warrior and Martin Riggs. In between episodes of scandalous
behavior, his job is to entertain Me in silly roles.
