Seems local activist KatyB has finally won her battle.
The MPAA, being the usual clueless jerks they are, didn't seem to realize that rating the documentary "Bully" up to an R-rating would then exclude its target audience, which is doubly ironic since most of them face far worse than the mere content of a film on a daily basis...
(Worth a note is how the standards have changed to infantilize youth, many "classics" we enjoyed would now no longer survive the ratings process were they re-rated today)

Katy isn't one of ours or an affiliate, but we've supported this push ourselves cause it "seemed the thing to do."

Yanno, the problem with showing kids a documentary on what they shouldn't be doing, is that a tenth of a percent of the population use the demonstration as inspiration on what to do tomorrow ta some poor schmuck. Just an observation, not sayin' it shouldn't be done...

The real problem is the PARENTS. They are the ones that teach that compassion is weakness, and that imperfection is to be rooted out like it's a virus that might spread. Kids most of the time aren't gonna say otherwise, even when they grow up and get the chance to.

By the way, I met a very quiet ten yr old yesterday who said that Criminal Minds is her very favorite show. 'Cause violent torture, violent rape, and serial killing is such a good thing for prepubescents, yeah... I have a hard time sittin through an episode, geez. This is more true tonight than it ever was....

I HATE IT HERE.

Ah yes, the Reavers, yeah, there's that.

My take on it is trying to get to those young folk and bring them understanding so that if/when they BECOME parents, those damn horrors aren't passed down the line, gotta take the long view here cause any other way just flat wouldn't have worked with the resources we had at the start, and I ain't entirely sure that'd work at all - most of the parents who do that crap are authoritarians who's response to plain facts is to just dig in harder.
So, we outlast them, outlive them, and cast them into historys dustbin where they belong.

Mind you, I never thought I'd actually live to see some of the payoffs from this that I have, but it's quite satisfying when I get to do so.

Wish I totally agree, no 10 year old should be allowed to watch that show, I mean I'm grown and can barely sit through an episode. It has to have something pretty interesting going on in order for me to watch it and even then its hard to get through without feeling ooky. That show's really intense and I'm sort of surprised its on network TV since it talks about some indepth things. At least its on in the evenings, when I was a kid they had some nasty things on talkshows during the day, I think they probably still do. I was pretty good at policing myself and deciding what I should and shouldn't watch growing up, but some of that stuff is just plain not good for daytime on regular channels.

I assume you're my pal until you let me know otherwise.
