I thought Agent Orange burns the hell out of any plant that's exposed to it?

I mean yeah, they dumped it on Vietnam to poison the whole country, but I thought they also did it to clear out all the vegetation so the bombers could see what they were doing.

And I can't imagine how you could genetically modify anything to be resistant to it.

Deliberate food shortages and poisoning surface water?

All of the above.

I went to Wallymart this week and bought a bag of dehydrated veggies.

I was so proud of buying something healthy instead of junk snacks.

Halfway through the bag, I notice the name of the American distributor.

3 quarters though the bag I read the fine print below the name of the US distributor...

VIETNAM.

100% RDA of Agent Orange.

It contains two major herbicides: 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T. Both are synthetic auxin ("hormone") herbicides.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2,4-D
Quote:

2,4-D is a synthetic auxin, which is a class of plant hormones. It is absorbed through the leaves and is translocated to the meristems of the plant. Uncontrolled, unsustainable growth ensues, causing stem curl-over, leaf withering, and eventual plant death. 2,4-D is typically applied as an amine salt, but more potent ester versions exist as well.

Yep. Agent Orange is a defoliant and was used to clear the jungles of leaves.

A lot of plants are becoming naturally resistant to 2,4-D. Evolution.

But this might lend a clue:

That would be my guess.

Third diagram down, and that's not even close to the whole extent of it.

The FDA is Monsantos bitch and we all know it, might as well admit it and then act on the reality of the situation instead of how we wish things were.

And yes, although I am loathe to use the word, Monsanto is one of the few corporations I do consider downright "evil", and boy howdy do they deserve that label.

PN's quotation from Heavy Metal says everything I need to say about Monsanto.
