Rev. Moon's submarines, sold to Kim Jong-Il: nuke threat?

I'm not really sure on all this, as it sounds like the bad plot of a James Bond movie, complete with psychotic Koreans, just lacking the sun-laser-satellite thingy.

Jane's is one helluva source though. And I've been hearing stories about Moon ever since I started paying attention. As far as tin-hat territory goes, I may order mine today.

So.... thoughts?

It's not like we didn't know they were there - it's that the current administration isn't about to do anything about N. Korea for several reasons.

1. North Korea has no oil
2. North Korea is too damn close to China for comfort.
3. North Korea is run by someone who the US government has never owned, therefore, truly dangerous instead of 'butt monkey' dangerous.

I agree with you 100%. We should invade North Korea immediately.

I'm hoping that's sarcasm and irony I hear. I didn't advocate invasion - I do advocate a hard line stance. The world needs to be rid of that wacko in the bad rug who is running North Korea.
Of course, the entire North Korean government is drinking the wacky koolaid.

What hard-line stance? We could stop providing food relief to N. Korea and millions of their citizens would starve to death while the ruling elite live like kings. Thats the problem with sanctions against totalitarian regimes. Only the average folk suffer, while the rulers live high on the hog. Any other options?

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Ultimately, sanctions work if the government does not have the support of the general population. They worked in Iraq, Libya and South Africa.

Here's another thought... how about if we just stop SUPPORTING dicatorships, like Saddam and the Taliban? In the end, they always seem to bite us in the end....

Sanctions worked in Iraq? Explain, please.

Sanctions in Libya didn't work until after we invaded Iraq. Coincidence?

Sanctions are working so well in Zimbabwe (danger of mass starvation) , Congo (tribal violence rife), et al.

The threat of sanctions is working so well in Sudan (30,000+ black Sudanese dead, 1 mil+ refugees and in danger of starvation).

Sanctions don't work where either the government, with the support of an ethnic/religious/whatever majority is supressing/cleansing a minority, or when the government has such total control (N. Korea) that they don't care what the general population thinks. Any other suggestions?
