Maybe the TSA was too busy looking at nudie X-rays and groping passengers to catch the 9-11 guys' weapon of choice?

I've been told repeatedly that this is impossible, and anyone who claims it's happened is a "fucking liar".

So obviously this never happened. ;)

... fully loaded, safety off...

People seem to forget - and I guess that's good, means it's working - that the TSA is security theatre pure and simple, and as such is not there to actually find every box cutter or sharp edge or blow upable thingy. And that's because it can't, it is impossible to do that and the people in charge at the TSA know it. And that's why it uses emotion and fear and theatre to achieve it's objective. Those big scary looking x-ray machines that rumor has it will mix your dna with the person behind you? Perfect! Props by Back Scatter, Inc.

It's *successful* if it puts enough doubt into the minds of would be terrorists to make them reconsider and bomb something or nothing else. It's *successful* if enough air travelers believe they are doing enough to deter terrorists and therefore continue to fly. And if it actually finds some bombs along the way then that's a twofer. If anyone has better ideas (and I'm sure plenty of inventive folks have approached the TSA with their suggestions) then they are free to express them, and even turn a profit on them.

Box cutters getting though? More cnn $click fodder: see keyword values for "TSA" "Airport Security" "Boxcutters" cha-cha-ching!

Pizmo has a point, they'll never find it all, they just need to make it look like they will. Now, I think their practices of late have gone a bit too far, but in theory Pizmo is right.
