Recently watched They Live again. Reminds me of the alien drones.

Dark Angel had flying surveillance drones as well.

It's a major TV trope, though I am disappointed in how little is listed on the page.

There are already cameras everywhere. Some cities have cameras mounted at intersections with stop lights. If a car runs a red light they have it on film. They mail you the ticket. There are those who are fighting this surveillance in the courts. Cameras have become a natural deterent. Smile when you pay for your gas.
