This concerns FIJA, one of the few orgs who have been trying to check the slide of our so-called justice system into nothing more than a rubber stamp, something I feel is all but futile.

Well, one particular activist, one Julian Heicklen, has met more than his share of bullshit and hassle for attempting to inform potential jurors of their rights and the law, something you'd THINK the judge would, instead of lying-by-omission, *IF* american courts had anything to do with justice, that is...

But apparently, after being UNABLE to seat a jury to convict someone of possession of a pathetic amount of weed, the Feds have decided to be complete dicks since the precious and exploitable ignorance of potential jurors is endangered.
(Oh woe betide, that the people be informed of their rights and responsibilities as citizens, oh the horror, the horror...)
As such, in a blatant attempt to purposefully spawn a tyrannical precedent, they went and arrested Heicklen AGAIN, this time trying to charge him with "jury tampering".
(So, would someone explaining HOW a voting machine works then be considered tampering, too ?)

And as such, they apparently plan to bring the case to court, in front of a jury (at least till they figure out the GAPING FLAW in that plan, here.) - whereupon the pamphlets the Feds didn't want potential jurors to read will be entered into evidence, and thus REQUIRED READING for said jury...

I read about this the other day. (I have a friend who is a BIG FIJA proponent.) What is he, nearly 80 years old? Bastards.

And what for? For handing out pamphlets.

The "terrorist by association" ruling, Reynolds' grand jury tribulations, and now Heicklen's jury tampering.... they all make me sick.

The First Amendment is on its deathbed. I'd like to see a miracle cure, but I'm not holding out much hope.
