The pesticide idea makes sense. This a problem in se. Asia I know, people use excessive general pesticides for economic reasons rather than health. Pests destroy about 20% of the annual yield, and while the amount of food is enough, and efficiency could be improves, and the pesticides represent generally more of a health hazard than the pests, the individual producers, even if they are the govt, have economic reasons for doing it.
