Oh horse shit.

Thing is, mosta the citizens are doing to this *TO* defend themselves - from the fuckin cops!

They won't do the job, they act like a goddamn mafia, are abusive and failing any success at installing civilian oversight who are not dependant on their whims (yanno, like other cops, judges, prosecutores) and therefore ineffective...

We've gone to the purse strings as a method of putting the leash on these rabid dogs.
AND IT WORKS.
Not only does it reduce the abuses substantially, it removes a lot of court congestion related to petty bullshit and harrassment arrests for pathetic little crimes which are more police ego stroking than law enforcement, and less cops means less ticket shakedowns, road blocks, theft-by-forfeiture and all that merry rot which is what gets their budgets cut in the first goddamn place.
Plus it does WONDERS for their behavior, especially when it's public knowledge that their conduct is one of the primary reasons for the cuts, and there's a willingness to KEEP cutting if the can't behave in a professional manner and actually do the job.

It is that very inability, or unwillingess to do the job which has lead so many communities to hire contract security to do the job they won't, and who DO answer to the community - and so, when you have to pay them, why exactly should you pay the bastards who will not do the job ?

So there's that.

Meanwhile, Barry Obama has drastically increased employment here in this country.
