While I've no taste for it, really whatever consenting adults do with each other or on film isn't any of the Govs fucking (pun intended) business.

"We can't continue to treat [pornography] like a joke, which is largely how the FBI has treated it," he said. "The FBI is simply unwilling to do these cases other than a token investigation here and there, and that's not enough.

"Adult pornography has effects on marriages, effects on children and effects on women," he continued. "The Supreme Court has held repeatedly the First Amendment does not protect obscene material."

*blows a raspberry*

I'm a nonsexual, and even I know this is bunk. Obscenity laws might have a place in the sense of prudes don't deserve to have this shit forced on them all the time. But even taken that way, something you have to pay for and something which has to be in your possession isn't technically a public viewing, which is generally where the law operates. They're wasting their time, and the judge's time.

There's far more criminal crap out there than regular porn. Child porn, there's a justification to nail some sumbitch up and send them off to prison. Regular stuff? The guy actually wonders why the FBI treats it like a joke. Uh, yeah, because they're probably watching it at WORK! This isn't an uncommon, deviant, or criminal behaviour. Show me who gets hurt when it's adult stars, they make their own choices, same with adults watching it, married or not. It's not government's place to control the family unit or people's choices.

MINCINGBEAST

Obscenity is offensive material (judged by local standards) that appeals to the prurient interest (makes your pee pee feel funny) and has no redeeming artistic or social value. Hence, taxes are obscene for the purposes of the FA if they make you tingly, I guess. Under this standard, teh pr0n is never obscene, because it has the social value of subjugating women.

Now I'm fighting Larry Flint's lawyer in court, who's trying to put me in jail for appealing a court order banning me from competing with his TV station to broadcast inside a courtroom about a police-corruption trial (redlight camera sniper is a cop). I checked the appellate court file this week, which was 3 inches thick. My First Amendment briefs and motions took up half that file...
