Hello,

I wonder what the opinion is amongst board members in regards to Wikileaks. Will it continue to be relevant as a public eye-opener about the dirty secrets of government? Will it be or is it already being manipulated by elements in government? Is it the future of Power to the People, or a sham to make us think we can see the great and secret show?

My bet is that it winds up co-opted in exchange for the folks behind it not being crushed to paste by the powers that be, that's how it usually goes.

Seriously, if they stand and deliver the site is gone - everyone here knows it, therefore if the site remains up, it's prima facie evidence they bent the knee.

They found the Pfc named Bradley who leaked the video of the helicopter attack on the Reuters guys. He will be court-martialed and put in prison. I give Obama credit for that, as Bush never once brought to justice any of the traitors who leaked national security secrets to the NY Times.

Wikileaks runs stories that server the powers, as well as those that don't. But as long as they do the former, then the powers will stay off their back. Of course they have 19 million layers of security that make it difficult for little enemies to take them down.

I'd go beyond "grain of salt" and say "it's a website"...whether "information" or not depends on its veracity. If it were destroyed, something equal would take its place. That's pretty predictable, given the common American mentality.
