We worked w/ the Soviets because we wanted to bridge our differences AND because they could offer very real, substantive help in achieving the goals of exploring space. We didn't do it to help them feel better about their contributions to science.

Many have been asking that for over two years now. Answer is that he's the President, so he will always have a core base of support. And the tv networks and print media all have vested interests in always supporting Democrats. Hey Jong, I agree. I have never been a Neocon and never will be. I feel, as Ron Paul does, that the Republican party has been hijacked from it's historical roots....Fiscal conservatism, anti-war, and small non-intrusive federal Gov. It's a shame that more people won't stop cheer-leading and start demanding that we get back to what makes this country great. The tea Party is a start.

It should be noted that Iran is now graduating more engineers than the U.S. is... Maybe that's why NASA wants to reach out, to try to get a foot in the door with the next wave of educated cheap labor, since no Americans seem to want to be rocket scientists anymore. And since Americans can't seem to do the tricky meters-to-feet conversions. ;)

'Course, this COULD turn out to be one of those stories like the one last time, where Obama was supposedly redesigning a certain logo, only it turned out to be a BUSH-era redesign, at which time the righties dropped their phony indignation and never spoke of it again...
